currently cadence is just a distant family from the princess amores according to the fandom wiki, you can see some sign that they are from the same family but not mother and daughter. Guys! Amore isn’t actually in the story, she is a fan made character! Cadence did not inherit her throne to the crystal empire. She was born in Equestria and got her Alicorn/princess status in Equestria. But when the crystal empire came back she took the throne since she was the only princess at the time that wasn’t already ruling anything.

Princess Amore should've been in the show for real I bet she's Cadence's mother since she has the same full name as her and they have a similar Cutie Mark I feel like Princess Amore was such a wasted character in the show and they never allowed her in the show at all. There are also characters in the comics who should've appeared in the show like The Nightmare Forces and the Deer Characters and Celestia and Luna's Adoptive Sea Lion cousin. She's a unicorn obviously as shown in the photos. That proves you don't have to be an alicorn to be a princess. Also, in G1, all of the princesses were unicorns so that might be what inspired Amore in being a unicorn princess instead of an alicorn.
