2:18 i always found this scene awkward. Now, i think what actually happened is that Celestia underestimated the amount of power Chrysalis had. This doesn't mean Chrysalis is stronger, it just means that the combination of bystanders and getting caught off guard made Celestia miscalculate how much power she actually needed to use. The main reason why she lost is most likely because she was worried that her full strength would harm the ponies that were, at the very least, within incineration range. Also, its been at least a couple of centuries up to a millennia since she last fought someone seriously.

Princess Celestia is such a troll and I absolutely LOVE her for it. 100% one of the best rulers in the media; at least one of the most memorable (and that's gotta count for something!). My favorite line of hers is absolutely from "The Best Night Ever" after Fluttershy crashes the place, she just leans down and whispers to Twilight, *_"R u n."_* Her random cameos are also great since she's sincerely seen so very little but talked about so often. The writers did a GOOD job with her. (Keep in mind I stopped watching the show like partway through Season 6 or 7... Starlight Glimmer agitated me too much... so I never got to see Princess Celestia with a ponytail :,( ) The whole "princesses being extremely powerful on paper but then getting their butts handed to them 0.25 seconds into a duel" running gag is also one of my favorite things about this show. Princess Cadence is unfortunately the worst about this. I don't think Princess Luna fell victim to it, though.
