As a former Phlebotomy Student, I can confirm that part about the infection being everywhere would be true by default. The blood literally can circulate throughout the entire body in a cycle of mere seconds depending on how quickly the heart is beating. But the virus would still need to reproduce to actually get to stages to kill someone from the infection point. Through depending on an individual's immune system, some blood-related pathogens may be able to be stalled by amputation, in theory. The amputation would have to be done within less than an hour from original infection. This would only work if you also put the patient on a ton and a half of medications and/or a vaccine against the particular virus to help the immune system fight the infection too. This is part of why diseases like Rabies can be treated via a vaccine for said disease if there are no symptoms showing, ONLY. The Rabies Vaccine alerts the Immune System to go "kill this sh*t with any means needed, including fire"! If any symptoms come up with Rabies, you are going to die, period, and it will be a horrible way to die. Using the Rabies model in mind here - we can assume Level 1 should be treated similarly (potentially with anti-viral medication too) and anyone in Level 2 is as good as dead!

@@quinnhouk5369 The worst part is if I learned anything from the Covid-19 Pandemic, using another disease to model transmission and/or infection tells you a lot about how it gets around and/or survival rates. Sure, Covid-19 may have always been a "Flu", but it was a 1920s Style Flu getting around, via airplanes, at first. That really upped the transmission rate a ton considering recirculated air and Christmas season in the USA. It doesn't take a genius to say that Covid-19 spread like wildfire due to governmental inaction by waiting until January and/or February of the next year to announce anything officially. That's why there was such an original surge - those anti-vax people really are not helping to eliminate the altered versions. Just because you're healthy doesn't mean you'll stay that way. And if anyone can't have the Covid-19 vaccine for medical reasons, you're going to make them sick. I'll apply that logic to any vaccine in existence that you should have for just about anything if you don't have the vaccine for non-medical reasons. So, we can assume that I'm likely using the correct disease model on this fictional disease. Yes, it's legibly that horrible too.
