Opaline Arcana is the main antagonist in My Little Pony: Make Your Mark. She lives in a castle to the northwest of Maretime Bay, and has a unicorn associate, also known as her adoptive daughter.
Princess Luna, known as Nightmare Moon[4] or Night Mare Moon[5] when transformed or under certain other circumstances,[note 3] is an Alicorn pony, the younger sister of Princess Celestia, and the main antagonist of the season one premiere of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic as Nightmare Moon. She is also the adoptive aunt of Princess Cadance. Eventually, the Elements of Harmony restore Luna to her former self and she returns to rule over Equestria alongside her older sister.

On one hand, the story Opal brought up feels like a story she made up but on another hand both princesses didn't know much about friendship (aka Celestia ignoring her sister's feelings leading up to her sister becoming nightmare moon)

Oh, it's the truth but only from Opaline perspective. Remember that she portrayed Twillight as a usurper that stole her magic and her throne and that in her backstory as "Queen Opaline", she portray herself as a benevolent ruler and we can clearly see she is not benevolent in any ways. She is so narcissists that she doesn't even check on Misty and just assume she is somewhere doing her bidding even if she had not seen or heard from her in days. In short, i sincerely don't believe her side of the story. If Celestia and Luna didn't liked her, there was certainly a good reason.

I can't tell if this is an unpopular opinion, but Opaline is an unreliable narrator because she a narcissist. Maybe she misinterpreted Celeste and actions when they were younger. She felt leftout because she didn't have a destiny laid out for her like the sister did. Celesta and Luna didn't do anything to her inperticuler Opaline is just jealous of them.

Though i do think locking her inside a tree was cruel, she didn't just stole cutie marks, she hurt ponies and tried to enslave them and the dragons and stole the whole magic for herself so she could rule as a supreme and unchallengeable dictator. What she did and planned to do was way worse than just stealing cutie marks. Bro. Or Sis, it's a show for kids, of course she's alive. They literally don't want to tell what happenned to the princesses because they don't want to say they died a long time ago. same reason they never mention what happenned to Twilight friends.

Maybe celestia and luna didnt die. They went back to home land in sky rocks or whatever the name was. Spike, in chapter 6 confirmed Opaline was banished from there. Plus if pony kinds separate it makes more sense if they go back and live with other alicon. Plus it will keep them out of mlpg5 series. I fo wish there is more mention about them
