I like STL’s odds. They had a few serious cracks with their wingbacks and found serious proven European talent to fill those cracks. They even built up their midfield by bringing in Chris Durkin. While yes losing Gio hurts the team a lot, it’s not like we ever leaned too heavily on him or any other player for that matter(other than maybe Burki lol). The team is a system team that doesn’t need a big man up top to be the show and scoring all the goals, they simply need to continue to play the way they play and have everyone doing their small part in creating goal-scoring opportunities.

From a sounders fan perspective going into the season. I’m nervous about our goal output last season and hoping it doesn’t carry onto this season but our defense has been the backbone of the team and we added more depth into our defense and have great depth throughout our whole team. If we can find consistent form then we will be dangerous.

I think part of the problem was that we kept putting Heber in the 9 spot where he obviously wasn't effective. Now that he's gone I don't see that being an issue anymore. I'm really excited to see how these new players work out, it should (hopefully) be a good season for us. I'm also hoping for a little revenge this saturday 😈

whitecaps are always undervalued in these videos. i dont think people remember the fact that they were competing for top 4 last season until they broke down on their 7 away game "window" and without that they possibly would have made it.

Your right... and it's kinda crazy to say that given we've not had Chad Marshall (one of the best CBs to ever play in MLS) for a few seasons now. Ragen and Yeimar are just amazing when in form. Arreaga and Bell on the bench could easily be the starting CB pair for about 80% of the league. And we just bore the first fruits of having De Le Vega when he helps us land 20 year old Argentine centerback, Brian Aguilar on loan to Tacoma Defiance with an option to buy. Aguilar was scouted while we were scouting De Le Vega at Lanus. And he has u20 Argentina national team experience.

I think RSL could be even higher. Love kreilach but he wasn’t scoring and did not look ball dangerous whatsoever last year and Savarino, while being productive, constantly had a bad attitude and would just not go to away games when he didn’t feel like it. I am sad to see Danny musovski go but he intentionally sat out of training and playing for over a month because of a contract dispute which left the team in shambles especially after the Pablo Ruiz injury. I think with Pablo Ruiz being healthy again, Diego Luna, Andres Gomez, and Chicho Arango we have have a solid attack and midfield. My biggest worry is the defense though.

Timbers portion was off imo. You're more than fine to put them where you did following two seasons of missing the playoffs, but you failed to aknowledge the signing of Maxime Crepeau who's arguably a top 5 keeper in the league, and a huge upgrade on David Bingham who was one of the worst last year. They will also be signing a DP striker in the next week or so who could be a club record (over 10m), and have another DP slot remaining to be used in the summer.

I agree, even as a long-time Seattle fan I would put the Timbers a lot higher. Unfortunately I think yall will be pretty damn good next year. Crepeau is insanely good. Only question is whether the new head coach will be up to the task.

This is more about me not being sold on Neville as a manager and then not having a striker. I could be totally wrong. If Evander plays up to his price tag and they get a striker anything is possible

Neville is a joke of a coach. Solid player, substandard coach. Even the PDX supporters are calling him awful. Waiting until a week before the start of the season to make a 10m DP striker signing means the Timbers front office is either negligent OR they player in question really doesn't want to come play for the meth capital of the west coast.

JT has not looked exciting yet in first 300+ minutes. Sometimes it could take a half season for a new striker to warm up in MLS… so time will tell. Brining in a 30 year old to change a team is a desperate tactic for a long term plan.

@Football-edits-PTFC2 The problem is that J-Rod can't score the goals that something like Miami can. But the Timbers have a terrible defense. Unless Rodriguez can score two goals every single match (on top of the goals from other players)... it's going to be difficult for Timbers to win matches consistently when they give up 2 goals every match

As a Dynamo fan I’d be shocked if we end up at 5th, made no noise in the transfer window (losing more than what we brought in) and the injuries of HH and Quiñones will make for a tough start to the year

@@MLSMovesyou might have mentioned pelligrino but you forgot that we signed two new goalies to replace marcinkowski. Bruno Wilson to replace mensah and signed Rodrigues permanently. Alfredo morales to replace montiero, vitor costa to replace trauco, and got a new back up striker in Preston Judd. We also signed chance cowell from our academy, and Jamar riketts from the draft. So overall 2 new goal keepers, 3 new defenders, 1 new midfielder, and 2 new forwards. Not a bad window.

Thinking LAFC may take a major backslide this year. They lost a lot depth, Bouanga seems unhappy to be there now, and getting rid of their proven keepers for Lloris feels like a LA Galaxy Chris Klein era move.

Morris hasn’t played up top as much as he has out on the wing. But this season he wants to focus on securing that 9 position and will be battling against ruidiaz for it. I’m hoping that drives him to score some goals

I’m a lil scared cuz we’re counting on a lot of injured guys bouncing back (Lletget, Pax, Arriola, Ferreira, and Velasco) and cuz we’re a bit thin at CB now. But I do feel like we have a lot of upside. Also Paes is sneakily one of the best goalkeepers in the league and I’m so happy he didn’t run off to the Netherlands this offseason.

Coach Nico loves the offense to be a barrage of high crosses into the box and last year all our Fs were 5’8 so having a big dude in Musa (and maybe if we’re lucky Farrington our rookie) is gonna fit so much better and let a lot of our other guys slide into more natural roles.
