So terribly inconsistent. Calling things that didnt need to be called. Not calling the things that needed to be called. He started losing credibility just a few minutes in with the first foul I believe it was. I was on the further side of the stadium so not too easy to see up close. But letting nycfc goalie continue to waste time and not add anything on to that blows my mind. I was 6 rows behind the nycfc for the second half, and watched the AR go to him before the half started and warn him about getting the ball out. There were calls missed that would have favored nycfc as well, possibly a couple calls that had no true advantage, yet it was given. Overall it is still harder to see the calls when you are at the game, but judging by the reactions of the crowd, you can tell that was a very poorly managed game. I am not a pro ref, but I have spent about 10 years reffing off and on, and I have had a game get out of hand, but never to that level. It can snowball very fast if you start to become inconsistent with your calls.

Yes, she is going to see things from a different perspective than a fan because she is a referee. There is no indication that her being married to Ted influences her analysis. What does is the fact she is a referee and sees the game from those eyes. Someone completely independent would be good, but for that to mean anything they'd still have to be high level referee. Even a grassroots/entry referee wouldn't understand why some of this is called the way it is. I refereed for 15+ years and there are always areas, especially with the different changes and interpretations, which I still need to go discuss with my current higher level referees sources to understand why a call is correct (or not.)

There are dozens (easily) of missed calls in every league every weekend. I'm not sure why this is 'fascinating'. Oh, and this isn't unique to soccer. NBA has missed calls all the time as well. It's part of sports for a variety of non-conspiracy and non-therefssuck reasons.

@MrCho14 Жыл бұрын
How the players and coaches reacted to what the think are bad calls, right or wrong, is what she was calling out. At no level is it okay to throw something at an official. Professionals need to do better. You don't see this in the NBA or NFL (okay, someone will have an example, but referee verbal/physical abuse is rare in comparison to professional soccer/MLS.)

@@MrCho14 I’m not debating that, I agree that the reaction wasn’t good, but the fact they NEVER publicly criticize the refs in these games is wild to me since they can literally control how a match is played.
@MrCho14 Жыл бұрын
@@Hesyourlifelight Who never publicly criticizes? PRO often states what they believe calls should have been. Even this segment, Christina stated she disagreed with calls. I think the issue from that standpoint is that people are extremely bias in their opinions if they have an association with either team AND if they don't they are very ignorant of the actual laws of the game as opposed to how things are called in their Sunday beer league and/or kids' U14 game. All of this “making himself bigger” and outside his silhouette nonsense doesn’t make sense from an actual movement sense. "We investigated ourselves and found no wrong-doing." This is an atrocious understanding of the NYCFC v Crew game. The only outcome of this review is that future games will be WORSE. The condonation of poor officiating only endangers all of the MLS players. The absurdity of this review hurts the sport as a whole, but also makes the MLS a laugh stock. Simply reviewing the calls made is a silly at best. It's irresponsible, disingenuous, and quite frankly... Not smart. The entire game tells a completely different story, and every player on that field was at risk of injury do to Sergii's poor performance. Also, the slippery slope argument against the crew trainer is only going to enforce that behavior by ignoring how bad Sergii officiated that game. Furthermore, these power-hungry people protecting their colleagues poor performance screams CORRUPTION. The whole situation smells of nepotism. So, why? Pathetic and sad.
