MLVoices: Arwa Michelle Mboya

Arwa Michelle Mboya, a research assistant in the Civic Media group, talks about her interests and specifically her passion for working with and empowering women. From Nairobi, Kenya, Arwa has worked in slums with women and girls, and she knew at an early stage that she wanted her research to interact with this demographic. A study she designed in Nairobi sheds light on how women in informal settlements interact with novel technologies like VR, and how these experiences affect their ideas of their futures. She's also in the process of designing a new VR head strap system to accommodate Black hair.
