My Ironsworn character died today. I intended to End the fight with 10 marked progress boxes, and rolled two 10 in the challenge dice, a match. Also, I previously challenged the villain to a duel to the death, so I was pretty much doomed.

Man, I love Ironsworn. I especially love how easy it is to add another player when they ask what the hell you're doing at the kitchen table. My daughter has become Ygrid the Shieldmaiden and joined in the quest to find a suitable location for a new settlement for our people after a cursed storm destroyed our village with lightning, leaving only a handful of the clan alive.

I gotta say, you are a wonderful story teller. I started watching this series because i was trying to learn to play ironsworn and was super confused. You really made the game easy to understand and i just played my first one shot by myself yesterday. Keep up the great work. The story lines can twist on a whim so its amazing. My goal was to form an ironland army because one hadnt existed and i had to go from village to village gathering support from overseers (forming bonds) each bond was progress on the main vow. It was a lot of fun and honestly, way easier to manage than DnD solo

"It came down from the mountain, destroyed a settlement and it raids wealth...are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Hold on, let me pause here. "My armour is like tenfold shields, my teeth are swords, my claws spears, the shock of my tail is a thunderbolt, my wings a hurricane, and my breath death!" - Smaug, "The Hobbit" ...and yes, I am thinking exactly what you're thinking. (Oddly enough in episode 1 when you mentioned "the scourge of the mountain" I thought "fire wyrm?") Awesome job as usual.

I think the spear's name, or at least its identity, is: "Oddgeir". Transformation or spiritual transposition or some other high strangeness. That's why Oddgeir was trying to return to Yoruun (sp?) -- but perhaps he does not know or remember why!
@VileoSufora44 жыл бұрын
Rather than taking an obvious naming option for the spear, I went with something decidedly Norse: Valksgipt, literally meaning "Valkyrie's Gift." Was it given to Vestlidi (or one of his ancestors) by an actual valkyrie? Who knows! But it's a cool name. Maybe it also pairs with a shield that protected Vestlidi from the dragon's breath attack (be it fire or something else).

The spear was forged from a meteorite fallen long ago in the Ironsworn land. The unearthly metal, blessed by mistics and forged in blood, can hurt things that no iron can pierce. The night it fell, the sky seemed to crumble down on the land, and it was therefore named Sky's End

I have an idea, Irsia thinks that the spear can heal because the dragon it is not a normal dragon, it is a Dracolich and so the spear has holy properties and the name could be Demonmorder it is a rough translation of Demon Murderer made by google. So not only the spear can damage the dracolich but also if you know what you are doing (I dont know if this is Irsia case) you can use it to pierce through curses and black magic dismissing them. Well thats is my attempt to help you, love your show here from Brazil, see you later next week.

My suggestion for the name of the spear is, because Kalapunki is finnish and means "fisher town" - Harppuuna, which is the finnish word for harpoon.

I like the emphasis on bonds and oaths to keep people directed without it feeling like railroading; I bet GMs in traditional games love that aspect. Great Episode. Thanks Trevor. The spear is named "Writhe" (a play on "Rith-ay", which I'm told is Icelandic for "rust") A 12 foot long, black iron spear, half of which is perpetually covered in rust yet it never dulls its jagged blade. Any who swear an oath on this spear are given great powers to fulfill their oath (perhaps, wounds from this spear never heal or it carries a deadly poison - like rust poisoning) . However, like the spear, the owner suffers a slow and wasting curse. Should the quest fail, or they lose the spear, they are doomed to walk the Ironlands forever. Wise heroes have only ever used the spear once and then given it away. Vestildi needs the spear to either free a loved one from this curse or put down one of these abominations (perhaps a fallen king from an ancient battle). Nobody knows the exact connection this spear has to the Ironlands but it is hard to deny that there must be some connection between the curse on this spear and the curse on the lands...

I think the spear was probably something already renowned before the wounding of the dragon. I doubt a mundane weapon could deliver such a grievous wound to a creature like a dragon. Dragon's blood (the sap from the tree in real life) is used in folk medicine to treat wounds, and I think the stuff in a dragon's veins might have the potential to do the same with greater potency. The spear was changed in that fight from something that protected Wolfstone by killing into something that could also heal wounds. No idea what it use to be called, but ever since that fight it was known as Astagar, the Bloodkeeper.

So of course there's going to be a battle at sea vs. the announced big baddie. Like, Game of Thrones + Moby Dick. So the spear must be a harpoon... likely shot from a ship on fire. I'm in.
