I would love to see Starforged from Trevor. This was awesome to see some sci-fi, but I guess I'm not as into watching such a skirmish heavy game compared to the narrative heavy games in the main seasons. I feel like Starforged would be awesome for that as a series. Still, great video.

If this doesn't hook you into Savage Worlds or solo-style RPGs ... not sure what will! Wow! This is top shelf quality! Give it a watch! :)

I was looking at Savage Worlds and this ... this was the motivation I finally needed to dive in full tilt. Trevor does a marvelous job showcasing just how flexible and fun this system is for narrative storytelling. What a legend! Definitely earned a lifelong subscriber today. :)

Any plans for when the kickstarter begins for some kind of VTT implementation of The Broken Empires? Like a Foundry module?

The way I do it is to roll the social skills first, for both sides, then imagine how the conversation played out based on the results. Let the dice speak.

I realised some funny happenstance of MMD seasons. Don’t know if I already talked about it or not. Both even seasons of a show cast as protagonist a character who was at first introduced as antagonist of odd season hunting down previous PC.😂 Also to add. Both odd season involve PC who on the run for a murder they didn’t commit while investigating some mystery of their past and even seasons have PC travel to some place in the world to deal with some unfinished business.

I've tried to get into this a couple of times as easy engaged listening...but honestly as an adult man, tucking up in bed with my bedtime story about Simon is the best. All the best Mr Devall xox

I like the adjustment to hit location on 1's die, it means that having a #9 skill is better than a #4 still, rewarding small increases in skill 1's value which makes sense. I also like the original concept of hit location being determined by part of basic roll, as I've never liked adding to number of rolls to make in combat.

I swear this is some of the greatest modern fiction going. It well beats Disney era "star wars." The end where Simon and Arne are there on the docks gets me in the feels every time!

Pretty late to the party on this one, but I just wanted to tell you that I absolutely loved this series! My wife and I listened to it on some long car rides and she was so much more into it than I expected :). "Its a lot like listening to a story that even the narrator doesn't know where its going!" she explained. Lol, that pretty much sums it up. We had a blast and feel the tension every time you roll the dice for a big scene. You do such a great job and its crazy now listening to you talk about having 1000 subscribers. You do such a great job with the story telling and the rest of the channel is great too. Onto season TWO for me!

I really enjoy zone based combat too, and I no longer use a grid. I came up with a homebrew zone system to use with Savage Worlds that was inspired by Fate. I just like the creative applications that pop up when using zones. It gets more cinematic. People start lifting up tables for cover and swinging from chandeliers.

Trevor, I am retired. I should have hours in my day to do things, but your story-telling is so enthralling, I'm watching hour after hour of you, waiting to see if Simon makes it or not (because every now and then I am anticipating one of those Game of Thrones, time for the principal character to die, moments). You have a gift for this. I have an Australian friend who loves Harn. Ever thought of expanding the portfolio?

Trevor, appreciate I am writing five years after you posted this, but fabulous story and loved the switching accents as well. You had me enthralled and so hoping the half-orc would make it. Well done.

Loving your descriptions of the characters and the action, as usual. I'm still not really sold on the Broken Empires rules system. It seems to me that the combat system needs 3 or 4 die rolls and multiple charts to determine what happens with every attack. I guess that's what some folk want from a combat system, but I don't think I'm one of them.
@MeMyselfandDieRPG
@MeMyselfandDieRPG 6 күн бұрын
That’s fine! Not all games are for everyone. Although I should point out, the appeal of the combat is actually the reverse of what you say: we get multiple types of information from a single roll, with virtually no chart lookup. Just to be accurate :)

I had a small who used a homebrew dice curve system for stat checks in ADnD. This was a while ago. You used d6s . The goal was to role less than your stat on the d6 alotted. The more difficult the check, the more dice you had to use.

It would be cool to have Party Combo Moves that characters could "buy" if they level up while in the party and would be tied to two or more specific characters (so if a character leaves/dies the move could not just be transferred to another character). These could be used instead of their actions on their turn of combat/social conflict. These could really build Party/Team cohesion and make for some cool Avengers like combat scenes. The more I think about them the more I am likely to add them to my solo games even if you don't add them to the official rules. :) Examples - Name: "You hit 'em high, I'll hit 'em low" Trigger: Both characters are acting at the same time and are adjacent to the target enemy Effect: One character only targets above waist hit locations. Other character only targets below waist hit locations. Both have advantage to hit. Name: "Good Cop, Bad Cop" Trigger: Both characters are present during an interrogation type social conflict. Effect: One character gets advantage to Persuade skill rolls. Other character gets advantage to Intimidate skill rolls Name: "Shield Wall" Trigger: Both characters are adjacent to each other and are equipped with shields. Effect: Both characters get advantage to defense rolls and are immune to push back. Name: "Hold 'em for me" Trigger: One character is adjacent to the target and the other is at range. Effect: After a successful grapple from the adjacent character, the character at range has advantage to hit the target.

The system is amazing and it's a brilliant episode, I absolutely love the magic lore, it's really interesting!! Around 9:00, Thrag hits the green assassin in the left leg and incapacitates it, doesn't it mean the leg gets chopped off? How would you chop a limb off? Love this episode <3

Thanks! Incapacitation is different from going over the Lethality Level. The first makes the limb useless, the second can kill you.

Hi, I could do a Foundry system for Broken Empires (we could work out something before/after kickstarter), I am the author of the Forbidden Lands modules, and maintainer of the system. More recently I made Legend in the Mist (and am working with Son of Oak on an official adaption).
