Fun fact about Tony Jaa: when he was young and watching all the kung fu movies, he didn't know they used wires so he thought he actually had to be able to do all those crazy athletic jumps moves and acrobatics so he just trained crazy hard to be able to.

Well tbh Tony jaa was great when he came on the scene. Specially in Ong Bak and Tom yum goong. Then once he went crazy and became a monk, his return has not been that great. His physique was amazing before he became a monk but not anymore. He looks slow and out of shape. Plus his strikes dont look that clean anymore. He used to be so much cleaner in his strikes but i feel that he has regressed. Iko Uwais on the other hand has improved his strikes. In merantau his kicks looked bad as kicking was not major in his martial arts style but now he has cleaned up his kicking game. I was a huge Tony Jaa fan specially after watching Ong Bak but hes not the same guy anymore.

What I personally love about Tony Jaa films is that all the techniques are real old style thai fighting techniques. Most people wouldn't maybe get the arm breaking scene in The Protector, but an elbow breaking technique is extremely effective in a real life or death scenario. One move and the guy is no longer a threat. Besides, those were one of the first things taught to us in IMBA (International Muay Boran Academy)

Tony Jaa made up the moves for the leg grappling scene in the protector. Yes Tony trained under Sityodtang, the coach of all time great Samart Payakaroon. Tony studied under Muay Boran. An umbrella term used for ancient Siamese boxing.

How many minions does one guy have to annihilate before the minions decide: "You know, maybe we should just run away?" If I was minion number 24 and a guy who just beaten up 23 minions before me, I'm not fighting that guy. The standard minion salary isn't worth it.

You've got twelve guys with long spears and you're facing one guy without much reach, who fight by flying forward with attacks. Hold your spears in front of you, stand in two horizontal rows and walk forward with just enough speed to make it uncomfortable for him to fight while walking backward. If you throw your self forward at ranks of spears, you die. Alexander the Great conquered the world doing exactly this. Now, if he's on an elephant, that's different. Alexander the Great got his ass kicked trying to fight elephants with spears.

He's such an incredible athlete. The spiral tower fight scene in The Protector is ONE SHOT with NO CUTS. That's a long time to be running, fighting, jumping, etc. Fun fact: When I first saw the Protector, it was an internet bootleg titled as "Ong Bak 2" (which it wasn't, obviously) and the subtitles were in Chinese, so we just had to guess what he was saying throughout the whole movie. When I finally saw it with English subtitles, it turned out that we were right. "Where's my elephant?!?"

I studied shotokan a very long time ago, before Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai became popular. I was second dan brown belt. Stopped because I kept getting disqualified for landing the strikes I practiced so much in my katas. I love mma and really love watching real Muay Thai fights. Would love to see your reactions to Buakaw Banchamek or Rodtang. It is hard to get good quality videos of them.

The story sums it up. Tony was 10-years-old and was watching Bruce Lee films (which is like 80% fake/wires), and he told his parents that he wanted to become like Bruce Lee and if they didn't let him he would kill himself. And, to make clear, he didn't want to be like the real Bruce Lee, he wanted to be the flying, superhuman on-screen Bruce Lee. That explains why Tony is superhuman. He trained since age 10 to actually be Bruce Lee on-screen, and he's the only human I know of that gets close to that (insane jumping, speed, power, etc.), though I am sure a few Olympic athletes are also at that level for some of the skills, but overall, Tony is just amazing. Of course, Bruce Lee himself did cite the Thai fighters as being the best in Asia along with the Chinese, and I think everybody knows by this point that Muay Thai is a very serious fighting style.

For a second i was afraid you guys dislike Tony. He's one of my all time favourites. I imported the Ong Bak (1) DVD from Thailand back in the days to have it 1rst and uncut. Love his skills, jumping ability and speed. Do another Tony Jaa video please. On a sidenote, i don't wanna be a stuntman for him as some hits connect obviously well. (check out his behind the scenes/making of's). Keep up the grat work ,great vids.

React to Flashpoint last fight scene. As an amateur mma fighter I'd say it's the closest scene to mma I've seen .. ♥️😊 keep it up

Fun fact, that dope ass looking tiled style of armor was a real thing. Not sure if it was a thing in that period in that place, but it was an easier way to give a person metal plate all over their body without having to hand fit a few big pieces over the chest, shoulders, thighs, etc. Just measure the guy and rivet the plates to a jacket that fits him and you have some dope ass armor that is able to be much more widely issued.

7:02 Don't forget that these guys film out in the sun in Thailand - if you've never been, it like 35-40+°C and very humid like in a butterfly sanctuary... in full costume and 2, 3+KW lights shining on you too!
