@@deheimer Idk pushing forward hard at gaethje and dustin after getting clipped hard multiple times isn't a very good gameplan. Obviously he finished them both, but one of those shots could have put him out cold and it would've been different. I think he could have had cleaner fights if he worked a different gameplan I don't think its in any lack of ability to adapt in the middle of a round, but likely his stubbornness

Heres the thing, Khabib is easy s tier. You are mistaking skill with fight IQ. Yes is striking was underwhelming but that is in no way related to his IQ and general understanding of the sport. How many times have you not heard his opponents praise how he "understands fighting" and how he manages his weight while wrestling. Remember his setup against Conor McGregor. He almost knocked him out by setting him up. Great video but don't disrespect the goat.

Strickland can stay in the average section because of his range management IQ but that game plan to just stand in front of Pereira (the only GLORY kickboxing double champ in history) and not even TRY to wrestle (which he is capable of) only to get KO'd is one of the most negative IQ moments I can think of in recent years. That surely puts him at the bottom of the average section.

Whittaker and Gane are smart. Andre Soukhamthat is below the dunce tier. Bryce is actually fairly smart; the fact that he didn't go for the takedown against Emmett, is because Josh has EXTREMELY good takedown defense, that's why he knocked out wrestlers like Bryce and Bektic in the 1st exchange

He had no chioce but to do that, honestly. You give Costa a slight chance to get in his rhythm and pressure you, and you are in trouble. Whittaker disrupt that standing his ground and using volume and counters in shorter distance, and if he stood in the outside for too long before using his blitz he was gonna get kicked by Costa and probably the best part of Costa's games are lowkey his kicks@@loismylane

This list is great but I think there is some inconsistencies between MMA IQ and MMA versatility. Like for example you say that Khabib isn't on genius level because his striking wasn't it (and I agree), but isn't MMA genrius someone who knows how to use his strengths to hide his weaknesses, for example Khabib using his striking effectively even though it was bad and then switching to wrestling as soon as his opponent starts hitting back. So I think this list is more like a combination between fight IQ and mma versatility

I guess in his prime I would argue that Tony Ferguson's Fight IQ was high average. One needs some extra points for that creativity. Creativity is a big part of cognition anyways.

I just don't know how skillset means IQ like i think fight IQ is decision making gameplan and stuff like that. Like we can't say Alex has bad IQ couse he can't graplle to well. But good video just simply don't understand that part. Thactics figuring out weaknesses know the opponent's tendecies using the right moves at the right time ect that's IQ for me

Corey Sandhagen & Demetrius Johnson & George St Pierre are deserving of the Top spot in my humble Opinion. Islam is supposed to be the evolution of Khabib as in Khabib's level of wrestling & Ground GaMe BUT ALSO with good striking......Also this is one of the reasons why he was able to beat Charlie Olives, because up until that point Charlie Olives would resort to pulling guard whenever he needed to recover & because everyone was SO terrified of his ground game he would be able to get away with it!! Except for Islam, who was a better striker so outstruck him then followed him onto the ground without hesitation, submitted him!

Its funny cuz when Gane wins he looks like the most meticulous genius fighter ever. Like watch every Gane win he could probably win those buy just standing and banging but he's patient for the whole fight and slowly opens you up and it's like there's no chance for his opponent ever. Silva should be bottom of the smart tier. He's had too many low iq moments to be considered an mma genius. Such as: Immediately rushing Sonnen in their secind fight and getting put in his back. Holding a thai clinch against Brunson depsite getting punched repeatedly. The entirety of the first Weidman fight. That dumb "wing chun" hand shuffle he does when his opponent has him pressed to the cage. Utilizing zero defense against Bisping. The illegal upkick agaisnt Okami. Having Daniel Cormier hurt to the body and proceeding to run straight into his clinch.

You made a list of IQ Fighters and didn't include Petr Yan, Ilia Topuria , also placed Makhachev below Volkanovski when he beat him twice because he was the fighter with the best adjustments and setups in 2 fights, also cast Charles as Smart when he keeps making the same IQ mistakes for years and wins fights because of pressure, also Ciryl Gane losing to the fighter with the highest IQ doesn't make him bellow average, you clearly don't know what you're doing

I would have Islam above Khabib and in MMA Genuius. Islam has beaten better competition than Khabib and is one of the most well rounded (more than Khabib as well) fighters to ever fight in the octagon.

Idk man. The way alex got KO'd by izzy was pretty low iq. And the way Izzy got beat up by strickland because he was trying to be the main character landing a big left hook counter the whole fight when Sean wasn't even giving him anything to counter was pretty heinous aswell. I think strickland would still beat him, but if he stuck behind his 2 to leg kick combo like he did in rd 2 it would be more competetive

Mostly disagree. I didn't understand what he was trying to analyse in this list.. fight iq or skill level ? Most of his discussions were around like this that Izzy & Wonderboy haven't been able to develop their wrestling, so that ranks them down as they mostly rely on striking. For me you ought to have genius fight iq if you're performing at top level without some of basic foundational skills. I don't like izzy but he definitely has S tier fight iq. Now coming to major point .. almost whole mma base agrees that Jon jones has best fight iq but thats not true and ill prove it. Jon jones has been trying to beat up guys in their games.. tried to outwrestle DC, rashad evans, ryan bader while trying to outstrike Guss, Reyes, Vitor, Machida etc. Jones is a complete martial artist, most skilled but if you're trying to beat people in their own game, it is not high iq but more of an ego as well as confidence factor. But look how easily and with low risk he beat guys when he choose to make his opponents compete in weak areas .. like he choose to wrestle with gane and smith and guss 2 .. and just easily close those fights. Jon jones has best skillset and that's why even his low fight iq decisions have been overshadowed with his brilliance in skills.

Anderson gave up, didn’t take it serious. Has nothing to do with IQ compared to his other fights, watch the demian Maia fight as a comparison, he showed razor sharpness in his decision making throughout while taunting and nullifying all of Maia’s strengths

We judge people by their actions, you don't see DJ or Jones having embarrassing displays like that, hence their fight IQ is way higher than Silvas.
