Ankalaev won't be eating or drinking water from 5 am to 6 pm every day during fight week, on the weigh-in day and on fight day. He won't be fully hydrated or at his best unfortunately. In these circumstances I favor Pereira. I wish he got his shot last September instead of Roundtree, so that both Ankalaev and Alex could fight at their best. But Ankle probably knew he had to accept this fight during Ramadan or not get the title shot later.

The only elite lhw Ankalaev ever faced was Jan, and he failed to get the win. Ank is good, but he's overrated and has a padded record, thanks to all the cans he faced. Alex will win.

Ankalaev have simply defencing shell style striking, and his wrestling is depending on his and his opponent cardio. Pereira for sure wont gas out in 5 rounds, so Ankalaev will have only slight advantage in wrestling, plus Pereira will strugle to Knock Ankalaev out due to his "defencing shell" striking, so the fight will be " Alex Pereira - By Decision ".

Jan is right... Ankalaev is very good but he is very careful.. Like he is aware that opponent can knock him out at anytime so he is extra careful all the time... He is always looking to counter punch or some mistakes from opponent to cash in with big shots until then he waits & waits which is kind of boring.. Never know i would say if Pereira makes any mistakes Ankalaev can knock him out else we are in for a boring fight
