I commend him for his bravery as a Shotokan guy trying out in the MMA ring. I train in Sierra's in L.I. but don't have the body and age to compete in the ring, unless UFC has a 40+ year old category. He could work on his BJJ more. He almost had it on the ground at one point.

Too bad for the Shotokan guy (at least that's what I think he practices for striking). Advise: put the point fighting aside and study boxing, so that he learns to cover up better after launching his straight. Also, learn to fight in mirror image (south paw vs ortho and vice versa) to stay away from the countering punch, stepping to the blind side. With Shotokan distancing and footwork, lure / frustrate the opponent (as per Machida) then catch him with a combo, not just one attack. Works for me.
