Because of how a lot of wrestling works, a lot of wrestlers are really good at physical mimicry, so you can see Malakai being able to duplicate pretty complex maneuver after watching it done. The tornado kick, for example.

There are some guys in AEW who I'd love to see take part in a real MMA fight and are actually trained. Malakai & John Silver in kickboxing, Eddie Kingston in muay thai (he's done some amateur fights and trains at ATT), Sammy Guevara has said he's down to fight MMA (even DMed Ariel Helwani for a fight long time ago), Kyle O'Reily & Bobby Fish have MMA backgrounds, & I'd love to see Zack Zabre Jr from New Japan compete in a grappling match
