This is exactly how i do my skin line. Super easy and you never have to worry about the skin line. Its not the fastest method but it gets the job done efficiently. Great idea to put the fat master blade on a second pair i didnt even think of that thats actually game changing. Might have to do it myself.

I think one side we hold our arm up higher that's why we tend to put the fade up higher on one side. Hard to explain but I noticed I was doing it years ago while cutting hair. I still fade higher on one side but I fix it now at the end of the cut.

Being a barber of 30 years, I can see a lot of basic flaws in your technique that would make your fades better. You are very average and that’s no disrespect-
