Bravississimo! This is a special perfomance that comes rarely even for great masters. The sensitivity with which the layers of texture have been so well stated, and so well controlled, throughout the piece is astounding, and the handling of the thematic context in the mastery of the dynamic levels of the piece gives the overall architecture an exquistely compelling momentum all the way to the finish. This was utterly brilliant music, and Chopin himself is undoubtedly thrilled by it.

extraordinary performance of a wonderful ballad. For the intensity you reminded me of Roman Polanski's moving film "The Pianist" about the life of Wladyslaw Szpilman. Thanks so much!

"Zanim zbierzesz z klawiszy rozrzucone nuty, spojrzyj w ziemię i w niebo, w szum lip.... "/Horodyński/ ❤ Dziękuję za to wykonanie.

Prof Niemczuk, this is the first performance of this Ballade that has made me cry. It is helping me grieve losses that I've had trouble grieving. Now that I'm learning about what Chopin's accents meant, hearing, for the first time, in slower tempo, the correct line at the beginning of the coda (bars 208-215), you help me feel my agony.

I love this piece, and great performace as always, greg! This has to be Chopin's most difficult piece and you nailed it! I like to imagine the ending of this piece has an old man lying in his bed. In the "fake ending" at the end, the man has a heart attack, but is able to survive it. In the last ending, the man has giant heart attack, moving like crazy in pain and panic. The last ending i also imagine its like "God trying to finish off the mans life" after surviving the first heart attack. I think weird things.

My God, I really didn't expect that! I know Ballade 1 by heart for 30+ years, every note of it (if only my fingers would do, too) because it was my first encounter with Chopin as a school girl and oddly became my "first love" in his music. Never died. Though, naturally, I have become really fussy with the interpretation. Many pianists fail to bring it alive for me, including some very big names. But you just did! You must have spent ages polishing it up, thinking and pondering! Or so it seems! A really stunning performance, so deep! And I have come to love your laid-back, steady pace in your playing, the stunning Chopin harmonies come alive, and it contrasts the fiery moments and the passion, once you let the inferno break loose. Love it, thank you for sharing it with the world. Went into my Chopin list! :D

Love the breath between phrases ,and with much poetry and expression, but why do you rush in a few places towards the end so much at the expense of technical control especially the left hand leaps in the coda which caused a few splashes ? A shame as this spoiled the overall enjoyment for me.
@gregniemczuk
@gregniemczuk 15 күн бұрын
Yes. I'm aware of this. The answer is very simple: too much emotions and lack of control. Unfortunately it's being my problem all my life. Rubinstein had similar performances though and this makes me feel a bit better......
