Firstly, I was thrilled to hear your take on the B Major nocturne because it's been my favourite for so long. Secondly this is the most sublime rendition I've ever heard. Crying because I suddenly could feel my emotions which have been hidden for a while. Between you and Chopin - it's inevitable. A stunning performance! 👏👏👏👏👏

I love Chopin! I always get goosebumps when I listen to it🎶🎶😭😭😭😭😭😭 when i was 13 I could play the Nocturne op. 9 N. 2... Now, I'm 46 and want to start playing again... And I also have to face the truth, that I cannot restart from the point I've stopped.... My fingers stuck like glue on the keyboard.....

On the B-Flat Minor Noctourne, I really liked the subdued dynamic of the left hand in relation to the melody until it gave space for greater dynamic modulation. I also think that is really important to a well played Barcarolle

I agree
@sunareekaewnat8967
@sunareekaewnat8967 Жыл бұрын
Barcarolle is a very popular piece among those seeking to qualify for the Cliburn competition that occurs every 4 years. When I sat through all 72 qualifying recitals a few years ago, I believe there were eight versions in six days. and being 10 feet from the piano, it was really noticeable who had mastered the art of relative dynamic modulation between both hands. Quite surprisingly, only 1 of the 72 participants played a nocturne. I do not understand why so many choose to play Bach and Mozart in these competitions because frankly I think that repertory is less susceptible to artistic interpretation. @@gregniemczuk
@gregniemczuk
@gregniemczuk Жыл бұрын
@@sunareekaewnat8967 i understand. But you know, Bach and Mozart or Beethoven are easier in competitions because the jury can judge it objectively. There is not so much space for interpretation whereas Chopin is risky. You can play fantastically but the jury member can simply have different taste and will give you zero points.......
@sunareekaewnat8967
@sunareekaewnat8967 Жыл бұрын
Then they should not judge competitions. I do not approve of extreme departures from what a composer has written, but because no composer prior to Rachmaninoff truly heard a sound that equates to the modern piano, I think there is ample room for interpretation. I think there is also a role for adjusting according to the instrument and venue. I am sure you have shown up to a recital and the piano cannot produce the sound you want on the interpretation you had planned or the acoustics will not let the audience experience what you want them to. @@gregniemczuk

@@sunareekaewnat8967 I totally agree with you! But the truth is different...those people judge competitions very often....... 😔

I think Chopin’s op 9 and 15 are ideal nocturne in which composer should compose afterwards next opus nocturne just not sound like nocturne , kind of deviated and different but more beautiful and colourful at the same time

Dear Greg, I have heard these Nocturnes at least a hundred times. The dynamics you bring to this are phenomenal. The tenderness here takes on meaning as intended by Chopin. A real Nocturne. The left hand…. very subtle and shows 'new' tones. Thank you for this beautiful performance. Very inspiring! Greetings from Austria Paul Manche🙋‍♂️
