5:17 Hi Greg, i am absolutely astonished watching this analysis because, in this moment you mentionned the sudden stop in the music, and you imagined the Mazurka maybe being about Maria Wodzinska picking flowers, Chopin being in love with her in this early stages. Well, this exact fermata stop reminded me of Opus 32 no 1 Nocturne, with the same kind of forte sudden stop, but that nocturne was when the relationship between them ended. It is like maybe this mazurka was indeed composed by Chopin thinking about Maria, and he used this exact same sudden and "strange" stop in the later op. 32 piece that meant the closing of this door forever... just incredible, i'd like to think it is not a coincidence !

For a 'less popular' Mazurka this is a very rich analysis indeed - one of my favourites in your series. As you say, it's playable by amateurs with very moderate skill - and now I know 4 different ways to (try to) play it!! The link with the Ballade is fascinating - for me my first thought before watching this was the D sharps in op41 #1. As I work through your analyses, will you be saying something more about the main motif in the tenor voice (e.g. op 59 #2 and a number of others)?
