Because of you I learned that music is visualisation of soul. I never thought in that direction, it changed the way I am looking at classical Chopin music now, so far I only considered that music as nice pieces, nothing more. Thank you Greg, your videos are great

You are truly gifted, and what you have given us is truly unique: encouraging us to look beyond the technicalities and into the soul of this great composer and legend. His music has new meaning to me, especially those pieces whose interpretation was lost to many pianists who ruthlessly play over tempo and with no expression; the hidden voices and nuances that failed to surface in many of their renditions. I am seeking the soul and emotional rollercoaster of each piece now thanks to you. We'll stay in touch and continue on this great journey with you - Thank you Greg!

That’s right, it is the end of your commission, your mission! I am happy to play this piece with this in mind, I finally think I have memorized hands together, with a little bit of hesitancy, but I don’t need to look at the music, it’s in my head. It’s not up to tempo and there are wrinkles as the structure was confusing me a bit (parts are similar, but different )but I think I have that straightened out. It’s a great little piece, full of hope. I have been learning your way, memorizing hands separately and then together and it’s a lot of work but well worth it. I’d be curious to see how that works on a piece that isn’t so uniform. Thanks for all your great tips. I put them to good use Greg. 💚💚💚🎹🎹🎹 I think it took me two months to memorize this. I’m so slow.

I came across your channel looking for analysis of the 2nd and 3rd sonatas and what was available on youtube before for chopin analysis was pretty thin. This will be a great resource for those coming along in the years to come who are interested in his entire catalog. You should be very proud! Looking forward to seeing your future videos and the recordings that I know you will make. I wonder how you will handle non-solo pieces? An entire musical cycle seems to be coming to an end. But this is an illusion. Music never ends !!! Not even your own participation in it. These studies, like the preludes, can be interpreted in any order. The value of each piece is unique and unrepeatable. The logical continuities and affinities between the musical scales are certainly the infrastructure of a whole and complete work, but this issue is of interest only to the experts. A creative listener should always be able to be inspired by this sound and "travel" in space and time, free from the weight and restraint of everyday life. I chose to follow the freedom of choice of your lectures, because it fits better with the concept of self-determination that is so strongly violated even today. But I do neither politics nor ethics. I just wish the nickname "Ocean" of this insurmountable study, to be able to take away from the minds of people the smallness and immorality that tend to dominate our small planet. Our wonderful communication continues, something for which I feel grateful to you and the Polish culture!

Greg, when memorizing so far on the first two pages of this, I’ll work on the right hand memorization then I’ll work on the left-hand memorization, but I don’t go through the whole piece. I feel like I’m bringing both hands along together and then when I reach the end of the piece then I’ll go back and put the hands together. Is that the way I should do this or should I learn the whole right hand start to finish and then the whole left-hand start to finish and then put it together? Ty!!

@@gregniemczuk so GREG it’s been three weeks, I still have not memorized the whole piece. I have four pages memorized as chords & arpeggios, Hands Separately. I have two pages left, so I’m going to finish them HS, then back to the beginning and play everything as chords Hands Together from memory, then back to beginning and do everything as arpeggios. By then, I should really know it. Of course, I’ve tried playing hands together, both as chords and arpeggios, but I don’t get very far! I did all this with just having eye surgery as well, and not being able to see very well for the last month. It's simply because I was running out of time and finished this big project just on the last moment before the deadline. I explained it in this video and asked for forgiveness that this playing was so bad. In this video not the playing was the most important. Only people who witnessed my project which I was doing during lockdown fully understood this. Yes, I know. I agree with you 100%. But to understand why it's like that you'd need to know about the whole project. Have you watched this analysis to the end? I didn't have enough time to polish this etude as well as I wanted. I had to finish the project, I had a deadline. I made 330 videos in 20 months about all Chopin's music. The most important was to describe the music with easy words so that even not musicians would understand it better. It was impossible to master all the pieces to the perfection. But I'll record all Chopin's works soon and this will not be as sloppy. I hope you understand.

You gotta understand the project Greg is doing. He can’t play the piece in each video like it is a concert, the analysis is priority. Of course i come to Greg’s channel to hear his interpretation (my favorite is how passionately he plays prelude 24), but i first come for the analysis . So yeah some wrong notes but imagine he has to re-record each analysis because he made some mistakes!

All the pontificators miss the crucial point: ultimately, you need PREVIOUS COUNTLESS HOURS of training to play it RIGHT. No amount of "chorale" , chords, nonsensical "It's just THIS" makes ANY SENSE. You need to put COUNTLESS hours of previous work. Just the truth. As far as THIS tutorial is concerned. it's very sloppy...

I agree. Sorry. I had to finish the whole project and had a deadline. Not enough time to do it right. But next year I will record all the etudes the way it should be played. This is only analysis of what's inside the music. I don't like it myself but I had no choice really.....
