I think Coach Wood deserves a great ton of credit. He's one of the best minds in the game and helped Merab transition from the Longo team to a more competitive Syndicate with plenty of sparring partners. John Wood is not well known for his tactical acumen but I think this fight it worked to perfection and helped Merab avoid Sean's fire power. This is why a matchup with Umar will depend mostly on the tactics and not the fighters. Congrats coach!

24:50 Henry was a Flyweight and a small Bantamweight, meanwhile Umar is a big Bantamweight, size matters in wrestling as well, also Henry was 36 years old when he fought Merab, after passing 35 years old its more difficult to win a title in divisions between 135-170 lbs, and Henry has 0 submission win, Umar has submissions so that makes Umar a better grappler than Henry for MMA.

@eggm0ney2 ай бұрын
@@BryanMuwanguziwhy would they offer him a fight that he was never gonna take
@BryanMuwanguzi2 ай бұрын
@eggm0ney That's irrelevant in regards to my point. Facts are, you can't claim he could've been champion if he had wanted to fight Aljo, cause that fight was never actually on the table at any point in time.
@timurjack87732 ай бұрын
@BryanMuwanguzi , Merab never ask for title shot so he didn't want to fight Aljo. Dana literally said in a press conference before if Merab wants to fight Sterling they can make that title fight, I think that was after Merab beat Jose Aldo 2 fights ago in 2022, so you want UFC to force 2 friends to fight each other so they can blame UFC for that? Merab should've asked for title shot but he didn't. Or he could move down or move up divisions he didn't do that as well, so my point remains, Merab chose that more difficult path, he could get title shot earlier.
@BryanMuwanguzi2 ай бұрын
@timurjack8773 It's not even a week ago Merab said that the fight was never even on the table, while also saying that him fighting Aljo wasn't completely impossible if they really had to, but he's obviously not going to actively call for a fight vs a close friend. But it remains a false narrative to say that he could've been a champion earlier, if only he had accepted a fight vs Aljo.
