I hope Aspinall won't get any injuries from that petrol soaking. I know he is trying to improve, but that is just too risky. I think the modern tight gloves should have taken into consideration, they could peel off the hardened skin from his knuckles and it's basically over from there. If I were a pro fighter, I would use lotion regularly to not get any skin damage.
