Tbh Max is not as classy as people make him out. Always refused to admit he was beaten by Alex. Including the first fight, which was clearly a Volkanovski win. Repeatedly pushed the idea he won the fights publicly. When he didn't and also never gave Alex props. Not being able to give someone props is whatever, I get it, dude lost his belt and it probably hurt. But trying to push the idea he didn't lose to Alex after the fact is just gross. For a guy who's motto is 'it is what it is', he isn't actually that good at accepting what is. and the way he acted after both fights contributed a ton to how badly treated volk was after those wins. it was shitty. woudnt be trying to act like max is class personified.

I have a good comprise on open scoring. How about the score is disclosed to the fighters coaches and they decide what they want to tell their fighters. It keeps the audience out of the loop and we still get the suspenseful decision announcement from Buffer/Martinez.

Ariel - for analysts/journalists there are the tuff/ tough questions, the rough questions & the wtf questions... & you ask a lot of the wtf questions! Sometimes I feel like you ask fighters questions in accordance with what you'd like the outcome to be for the fight ahead. Ariel asks the very leading questions about open scoring so he always gets a positive answer. We can’t know if it’s good until it’s tested. I personally think it would be for the worse because fighting isn’t about points

Ariel clearly hasn't seen it being used in practice, Open scoring other than taking any sort of suspense away from a fans perspective, doesn't lead to any better decisions coming from judges. Glory kickboxing has used it for years and many times the open scoring that's shown to the public doesn't have any effect on the actual decision that's scored.

I agree with your first two points. While fighting is not about points, scoring fights is about points. Hence the problem. Max acknowledged the double edged nature that might come to play. It an imperfect system for sure.

Max is a legend, but he watched the fight :) Lots of fighters says they dont watch the fights but they for sure do.
