Probably expected Merab to fight a certain way, post fight said they didn't expect him to shoot double leg (weird for them to think a wrestler will limit his own td options). Merab tweaked his game by being relatively restrained & elusive and their prepped strategy became useless. They were too complacent &/or lazy they didn't have a Plan B & C prepped. They also looked inexperienced because they had no remedy or adjustments to adapt on the fly.

The 9 knee shots merab threw in round 1 did more damage and had a greater impact on the whole fight than anything O’Malley threw. This is because O’Malley had the hip injury, and these knees 100% hurt that injured hip and handicapped him the rest of the fight. And for that reason Merab wins round 1.

There are some athletes who can get a mediocre or terrible coaching team to a championship, but they show how awful they are when the athlete is struggling at high levels of the sport.
