Guys did a good job. I have worked with different companies providing UD training. Some companies don’t provide enough training and the proper tools to properly make these terminations. My experience has taught me that some of the less experienced think that if it holds upon energizing everything is ok. They do not know or realize that improper termination of medium voltage cables with the proper tools will eventually fail prematurely. I came up with I company that provided the training that taught us why we take all the proper steps in UD terminations and the proper tools. While providing training most of those that didn’t follow each step required by manufacturers just didn’t know. Most these guys want to do it right

How many errors did you find here? No proper tools and some cuts are way too deep. The edges are not as clean as they should be and some effects at the edges might appear. Kudos for working with these tools and maintaining the grid with this.

The craftsmanship is very skilled. For future inspection and maintenance, I feel that if the three-color tape is wrapped on the wiring cable to separate the phases, and whether the phase sequence is marked on the cabinet body will be clearer to the staff.
@deang5622
@deang5622 Жыл бұрын
No. Phase sequence is not determined by the body of the transformer. Phase sequence is determined by the actual phase of the voltage on the cables. You can actually change the order of the cables connected to the transformer and as long as the output cables are also correspondingly changed, everything is good. So the correct way to indicate the phase of the electricity is to mark the cables first and foremost. You cannot not do that. It must be done.

Absolutely nothing is right about this installation. 1: wrong type cable for the job, single cores in a trefoil should have been used instead of a multi core cable 2: wrong type termination kit used, a break out or multi to single core kit should have been used which keeps the screen on all the way to the dead break elbow. 3: no grommet or gland used to seal the in enclosure from ingress or moisture 4: the clamp is installed at the crutch which will cause stress and early kit failure Solution: have your technicians trained and educated properly. Government should introduce a standard based apprenticeship system. Follow jointing kit instructions to the letter.

@@LordLorenzo834 It was well over 30 years ago and I was not actually making the connections but an observer apprentice, Working with MCM1000 AL they had specialized strippers that cut 95% through the plastic rolling it in a circle with end cutter set to the same to cut down the length of the cable so the plastic would easily peel off leaving the AL completely unscathed. The thing about AL is once you score a strand it creates a fracture point when you crank it down in the lug and the strands distort, it can cause strands to fracture/break completely through. AL it brittle like that. Of course you must also use Noalox as I recall.

Excellent work. It might get a fault but it sure AF isn't going to be the primary feed connection 😎

You sure? Did you see them apply proper torque on the bolts using the proper tool? Did you not see the scoring of the outer conductor @9:00? I sure as heck did not. So if you please, would you guide me to those missing pieces?

@@patrickd9551 also resistance to ground is not important there, they can just go by with crusty torch cut metal pieces

@@Milten130 true story: I went to an outdoor lan party back in 2000. Big army tent, diesel gens, etc. The power was ..... bad. Loads of parasitic voltage through the earth lead. So we all tied our computers to a piece of UTP cable and wrapped it around a couple of tent pegs. Then through the magic of powerstrips, all our computers were all cross-connected to many small grounds. It was enough from getting us zapped by our own computers tho, as stupid as it looked.

why did you cut the sleeve from the adhesive coating side? and you need to use the tool for making cut on Semicon.

Seeing workers struggling to cut big conductors with a recip saw reminds me of an electrician on another channel who uses a one-hand-held, cordless bandsaw that would make quick work of it. Buy one!
