But I just wasted so many hours between updates and new models that I just have to throw in the towel and say what I think about it. Such a shame. What's the better AI Box for Wireless Android Auto when I decide to use it (rarely I do) and possibly less lag on phone calls. I had a carlinkit tbox AR with the dash cam but wireless AA is hot trash and crashes every 5 seconds.

Load them into a TF card and access them via the photos app, menu to apply them as wallpaper or via Android settings if you can get in there.

Sorry I don’t understand. If you mean using dial controls I don’t have one to say how it works. I would think it needs rotating and it will scroll when reaching the end of the options.

Hello.i have the mmb max 4.0 and the same car screen as yours from vw. Although i have android phone it boots as carplay and i cant control the phonecalls from the steering wheel.any advice? Thank yoy

Hi I have a weird issue where the time is in 12 hr format in the system but the home page with the weather widget and the time in the bottom right corner both show 24hr format. Any idea how to change the home page time to 12hr format?

I don’t get Hulu in the UK so I don’t have an account to test. What I suggest is checking Hulu settings for anything that’s to do with setting resolution or display features like HDR etc. sounds like it’s putting out a display feed that your system can’t handle.

Hi, why do you never test the ability to make phone calls on AI boxes with SIM card slots? Theoretically there is no need to connect my phone at all on such devices and in my opinion would a main advantage against simple wireless carplay or aa adapters. M.I.C. CarPlay HDMI Box for example can do this and probably others, too. Thanks.

I guess there is so much to cover in a video and without making them so long, that they become unwatchable, I have to cherry pick the highlights of what most will want to hear about them. You’re the only one who has asked me this out of hundreds of thousands of viewers, so I would chalk this down as a feature not many seem too concerned with. Maybe I’ll look into this area in a dedicated video for anyone interested in this and which one does it best.

I have my MMB Max for months and love it. Yesterday AT&T suspended my Sim saying that the MMB Max IMEI is 3g. I found no way to check the IMEI . Anyone else with this issue?

Would be good if these boxes had some kind of boot up PIN code or similar. Otherwise if it gets stolen then presumably someone else will get access to your logged in services - such as email?

Yup. They used to have it when they had android 9 but too many people gave them support tickets because they locked them selves out of the adapter due to not remembering the passcode 🤦🏻‍♂️ so they stopped this ability

I’ve asked on Twitter, but you might not have seen it - are you aware of any issues with these boxes but being able to log into Google services like KZbin, Play Store etc? I go through the whole login process and eventually get the Google message ‘Something went wrong’. I’ve reset the box, tried different WiFis, built in SIM card, different Google account but always the same end result - ‘Something went wrong’.

Sorry no I didn't see it. Did you make sure the date and time on the adapter are correct, also the region? Google throws a wobbly if this isn't right, but doesn't tell you exactly this reason at the time.

@@CarPlayLife Finally got it to work. I knew there should have been an Android settings somewhere - not just the device settings but couldn’t find it. So used Google voice assistant thing to open them and logged into Google services through that menu and all good. But thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Hey Anthony, I just got a car that has wireless CarPlay built in (along with wired CarPlay). I use this AI box, but it says ‘please check whether confirmation is required’ and obviously without being able to see the interface, I’m not able to confirm. Do you know if any of these AI boxes are capable or working with stock Wireless CarPlay? Or if there is a way of getting my headunit to display the AI box?

So would this MMB be not as good as carlinkit Tbox plus for playing music videos all the time on youtube music/youtube? And, can you connect more than one device via bluetooth simultaneously? Or, which one would you recommend more for wanting speed, multi BT devices connected simultaneously, music quality, ?

None work with multiple devices that well. So rule that one out. Speed wise go for CarlinKit plus with 8GB ram. As for sound they are all pretty much the same. The MMB has poor specs inside compared to CarlinKit. But has a nice menu interface.

I have a problem.now i have a carlinkit box but when i have this conected i cant receive phonecalls on my bluetooth car system(skoda octavia mk3).is a prolem with my device or is normal for this android ai box?for me.is no use if i have music on youtube when i am.driving but if i receive a phonecall is not going to my Bluetooth car system and i hear only phone ringing in the pocket...so any advice?

Soon as you connect this device it will act as if you’re plugged in your iPhone. So any system level functions regarding calling will route to the adapter than your car system. You could try connecting back to your car BT after its finished booting but if you’re using wireless CP or AA on the adapter you can have them both running like that.

It should just work. If it doesn’t when inserted then it's likely the sim or the adapter isn’t compatible with the mobile data sim network or mast type in your region.

Picasou 2. It’s just an all around better adapter. Better CPU/GPU, faster to boot to menu, faster to boot into apps, faster into CarPlay, but it is a bit slower into Android Auto. Might also be more compatible in vehicles.

When you are swiping through the screens it sure seems slow and jittery. I feel like these adapters just aren’t ready for prime time yet. Needs to be more reliable and quicker for sure

Certainly. I keep saying to people that right now the Qc665 chipset adapters should really be the bare minimum of these adapters and we need big leaps in improvements going forward. Maybe the next generation of them will begin the time for these to shine.

Sadly not. The screen needs some form of CarPlay functionality for most of these adapters to work on them.

Thanks for great videos. Please give me honest recommendation. I use factory CarPlay on my Audi q5 2019. Because there is still no jailbreak for iPhones and I can’t install cartridge which device you bought if mostly time used CarPlay but sometimes you wanted to watch KZbin. money don’t play here big role please give your best suggestion. I want fastest, not laggy and ect. You tested a lot of them so I think you really know what is best currently in market. Big thank in advance!!❤❤

That CarlinKit is Good option. The TBox plus with 8GB ram should fly. I don’t have it and they won’t send me this one for review as there isn’t much change to the one I reviewed already The ultra has poor Wi-Fi and so does the CarlinKit. So if you plan on using them for wireless CarPlay or Android auto maybe look at the ottocast Picasou 2 instead.

Most of these do seem to work with dial/knob controls in BMW, Merc, Audi etc. check their compatibility list before buying to be sure.

MMB Max is a good CarPlay AI Box, but there are better for the same price - M.I.C. HDMI Box / CP-508 - CarlinKit CPC-200 Tbox Plus - Ottocast Picasou 2 On the other hand this CarPlay AI Box is not compatible with a lot of CarPlay receiver (Carpuride in others)

Yes it does lag a bit in places. It’s CPU spec is rather low against competition of similar price range
