I was thinking of installing a dedicated single or double din screen in my car but i keep leaning towards a proper tablet instead. Most of the dedicated screens are sluggish and no where near as responsive as a half decent tablet

Both great options. Especially the R5, but having see one and looked through the back window (it was locked up), it goes into the same pile as the Mini and Peugeot. A bit too small for me.

If you’re talking about from your phone, then that means that you’re talking about casting to the card display via the adapter. Sadly, I’ve never had a great experience with casting on these adapters so is something I would avoid considering and instead perhaps look at either directly using the KZbin app installed on the adapter or going the HDMI to CarPlay route.

Hi guys , fitted one of these the other day , does the top part fit snug against the screen like the oe plastic trim or is there gaps ? Mines secure but the little gaps are a bit annoying 😂

It’s not a perfect fit. I’ve knocked it once when cleaning the screen and the whole thing came apart and fell down. There is a slight ridge before the glass. Make sure the cover fits between the ridge and glass. Else you will have a large gap there.

I didn’t feel I needed to trim anything. The arm that goes up to these lights was a good amount too short. Around 1-2cm. Maybe they adjusted this length and now it’s a bit too long?

@@CarPlayLife no mines the same , when i asked fitcamX about the gap they suggested trimming tail but cant see that making any difference . Just have to put up with it ! Lucky cant see it unless looking from side 🤣

Interesting dilemma: most GM vehicles 2021 and newer will do full screen android auto, but windowed CarPlay. What I gather from this video is that putting this device in native Android Auto mode, then using CarPlay over this connection will eliminate the windowed mode, right? Or does it switch back to native CarPlay negotiation?

No it should stay in android auto mode and use that to display its content. So in theory it should be full screen in your case 🤞🏻

I got one of these for my 2021 M1 MacBook Prop in September. It wouldn't always connect to the monitor and now it's stopped completely. I've reached out to tech support; we'll see if they get back to me and can fix it.

Hope they are able to fix it. Did you try a different display cable? That may be faulty instead or not the perfect cable to be connected to the monitor if it’s always been an issue. I remember I had to use a thunderbolt 3 usb c cable to monitor as not every cable would work for display output.

Does this affect audio in any type of way compared to a wired conmection when playing music or making calls?

It usually does because the audio signal is being sent wirelessly and is likely going through some amount of compression. So it will never be like for like compared to wired. But with that said, depending on your ear and your car system setup, you many not even notice the difference.

I can’t say being in the UK. I know they have a few different model types for different regions. So a SIM inserted in a euro model one may not work in the USA for example.

If you connect it to a usb c hub then I can’t see why I wouldn’t be able to connect to those things. I’m not sure if the Android OS limits multiple connections in any way 🤔

Ai Boxes are never as good as a dedicated wireless adapter. So you kind of have to compromise on this if you want the android app functionality for things like watching video. You can’t really improve it as it’s software layer based. I’m assuming you have set the CarPlay app as the auto boot app in settings?

I was watching your review of the MMB AI box for the Mazda CX-9, and after seeing your video, I decided to buy the exact same model you reviewed. I tested it in my 2019 Mazda CX-9, and overall, it works well. However, I’ve encountered an issue with audio synchronization when watching KZbin. Specifically, the audio doesn’t seem to sync up with the video-the person on screen is talking, but there’s a slight delay in the audio that comes about a second after their mouth moves. I’ve tried using both my mobile phone and the 5G SIM card in the AI box to ensure that I have a stable connection, but unfortunately, the problem persists regardless of which method I use. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this issue, or do you know if this is a common problem with this box? Thank you for your help!

Thanks for watching ☺️🙏🏻 This is a common issue I found on my own Golf system. The sync varies between car systems. The +400ms lag in my 2013 Golf 7 is +80-100ms in a VW Polo 2024. So it feels modern systems can process the audio to video much faster. I’ll go into this in a future video with my new car and how adapters perform with the updated technology in today’s cars. Search for the twitch audio sync text video and try and see how far the moving white bar is once the beep is heard. I bet it will be around +300-400ms on the right side

Other than checking for an update of the app, not really. You can see if you clear the android app cache and see if it still crashes. As it sounds like the OS is running out of resources or the app doesn’t like the actual system (compatibility).

I have 2 questions, I heard people saying playing games with Bluetooth mode on this headphones have huge delay, also I heard if you use the cable with mic provided to play on ps5 you only can heard audio from one of the sides. Can someone confirm me this? 😅

Sorry I can’t confirm, but genealogy playing games over BT will carry some lag to the experience. Best to avoid or plug-in via a cable

If it has never worked, it is likely due to compatibility. BMW connections for CarPlay can be very picky. Some BMWs only connect to CarPlay wirelessly, so anything like a wired adapter will not work unless it's made for BMW and works around this compatibility issues.

This one is fast and excellent. It doesn't seamlessly switch between two different users though. We have to pair to its Bluetooth every time we swap phones. Do you know any that can do that? Thanks!

@CarPlayLife One of each. I tried two dongles from Amazon. Both Lojusimeh. One has a blue/teal light and uses both AA and Carplay interfaces. But it requires us to connect to it over BT every time we want to switch. The other one uses just the Carplay interface for both the AA and Carplay streams and it switches automatically. But... It messes up the resolution of AA and stretches it weirdly. I tried changing the settings, but it didn't help. They're bothe VERY fast though. By the time I walk in and press the start button on my Kia EV6, AA is popping up on screen. I'm looking for something that will switch between our phones seamlessly. Thanks!

Automatic switching is a unicorn with these adapters. It doesn’t exist. They rely on BT to connect and it’s just not smart enough to know who’s connecting to it unless the second device isn’t within range. The best method I’ve seen is adapters that allow auto connection to be turned off and a menu that displays previously connected devices that you would manually select to connect. Only two I’ve seen this on is kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6S2d3Z6grKpiJYsi=geQ3BkHwv8d6dTki and this one and one from cuarko but it’s only CarPlay or android auto it won’t do both. Second is an adapter that has a switch that disconnects the connected device and switches to the other. This one does that kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHato6eXbpeFjNksi=SPZ_ThX68kMzbBFM

@@CarPlayLife Thanks! It's pretty cheap, I'll try it. I don't want to be selecting from menu etc because then I might as well just open my phone's BT and reconnect. When I said automatic, I meant to have a memory of two connected devices and connect to whichever device is in range. Most often we drive The car separately. The one I got does that, but messes up AA resolution and stretches the image unfortunately. Thank you for the recs!

Any device that screen mirrors will do it wirelessly. You mostly connect to the hotspot of the adapter that supports mirroring over WiFi

The upgraded Entertainment System makes all the difference. Shame they weren´t able to provide you a car with it. BOth, ID3 and Bord should be available with the newer OS 5.0 as well. I liked that you can easily switch between two carplay-enabled devices, I have an iPhone as main device enabeled and a T-Box also, which I´m switching to when needed

Yes the OS5.0 is way better and the MY25 upgrades also are a must have too. I’ll be returning to the Born in a future update. Interested to know how you get to switch CarPlay connections? I couldn’t work out how when charging in a MY25 Born the other week. Any info on that would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you mean the HDMI to USB-C cable. I use this one from UNI amzn.to/4ePjDFI it will not charge the phone though. These cables will not do that.

You need to connect to its WiFi network without that it won’t know what to connect and cast to. Make sure hotspot on the adapter is turned on and check your phone WiFi settings for its network to show up. Connect to it and then airplay should give you the option to cast to the adapter.

It’s as simple as connect to your CarPlay port and wait for the adapter to boot and display its video in the CarPlay area of your car system. You can also check the manual.
