MMLRADIO JC-8811, Radtel RT-470, RUYAGE UV1D, JJCC 8810, same radio different names!

Another of the newer breed of color screen analog HTs, competing with Baofeng.
Nice features, including Air band (receive), unlocked to all frequencies, and many more, and also some quirks. But at a bargain price of about $40, not too bad at all.
This one can be had from AliExpress or Temu, but not Amazon.

@@photographywithbrallan1247 Correct, if you're running Legacy then it's only T18. I'm having a hard time installing CHIRP NEXT on my Linux system and even the Flatpak is only the Legacy version.

Before you turn on the radio press the PTT bottom and the number 8 button to fully unlock this radio to transmit on all frequencies. Your welcome !!! It will show expand on the screen. Hold the buttons down when turning on the radio

@@enriqueleonmacias249 If you do the firmware update on it and install the frequency expansion software you can transmit on air band yes. Tread lightly on those frequencies. The FCC and the FAA get very pissy with people on those specific frequencies. It unlocks it to 035.000 to 999.9500. And you can transmit through out the entire spectrum.

As of today, i got the radio. It IS Chirp compatible under the Radtel 470 with Baofeng cable. I copied my UV5R whole list to this empty one besides writting all at low power, the rest is flawless. Awesome quality in all bands!

My own MMLRadio 8810 actually transmits More than it's advertised 10w output. My Icom gear told me it was 12w in the 70cm band and 15w in the 2m band. After having solidly nailed some distant Repeaters, 40 to 60+ miles away while sitting on my couch and with the addition of only the Abbree 102cm antenna 📡 to really reach out Smack other HAM Radio Operator Friends so I'm pretty much happy with it. 😂 Be safe, be well, and be blessed with dry powder always. Anyone tested the transmit power on 220? It seems most of these radios have lower power on the 220 band for some reason.

It says on there website that 10w wont work for bands 200 -300

On 223 my 5W does 6.25W and my 10W does 10.9W. Something wrong if you're getting less than 5 watts on 1.25 meter band. If you're using the little 701 antenna that came with it it's a radio killer on 220. The VSWR 19:1, meaning all the power on 220 is reflected back into the radio and will burn out your finals making the radio a paperweight. I use whip antennas that I trimmed to tune and are resonant on 220, 440, and GMRS. VSWR is 1.8 on 220 and 1.01: 1- 1.34:1 on 440 and GMRS. Whatever you do don't use the stock antenna on 220.

Why didn't you get the 10W version? The 3800mAh battery and tri-power capability really makes the 10W a better choice. Even the mid-range power settings are greater than the HIGH setting on this.

I think the Radtel version is RT-470L. Keep it away from your head when transmitting! The radio gets a bit hissy, which initially bothered me, but the hissing stopped immediately when I turned off the USB power. While using only battery power, the hiss was gone. If I plugged in the USB power, hiss returned. Nice, powerful radio. The color screen is cosmetically beautiful (you don't really need color, but it's nice). My favorite radio is the TYT TH-UV8000.

You may very well be right! Even in other brands the two flavors are 8810 and 8811! Talk about confusing! The only difference I seem to find is power output. I only got this because I could NOT resist the UNDER $20 on Temu as a special deal!

On radios, you'll have radio frequency (RF) exported away from you, and this is where a good antenna comes in; however, you'll have RF that returns from the antenna, and if you don't cup your hand around the radio, more RF will return down the antenna and be absorbed by your head (not good). By elevating the antenna and pointing it away from you, and by cupping the radio, you'll get a safer, more effective use from your radio.

You need to google frequencies where you live and if they have not gone digital, then copy them to the radio. Remember, this is not a scanner!

I agree it took a while to figure this out. It's on page 2, a long press of the Exit Key/Clear key (top right button with the house) will switch between frequency and channel mode.
