MMM Book of Colors - More Ideas

In this video, I'm sharing some additional ideas of things you may have on hand, that can be used in your Book of Colors.
My Mixed Media Morsels videos for 2021 will consist of creating a small color-themed book. The notebook I’m using is about 4x4 inches. I encourage you to play along as we create one page every month together, showcasing a different color each time. We'll use paper scraps for the backgrounds, then add small focal images from magazines, stickers, product packaging, etc. We will also add some doodling and three-dimensional items for extra flair. I had so much fun creating my little example book, I can't wait to begin creating another one! 😊 Colors will be announced as my videos are published around the middle of each month throughout 2021!

Love this project. To be able to use up some of my 'bits' stash, stamps I've never used, old outline stickers (from 20years ago!), dies, paints. I have just sat and gone through an old dept store catalogue cutting out bits and pieces I may use. Thank you for the great ideas and inspiration. ❤

Lots of great ideas for colored items. I also love paint chips, which are free in paint departments, if you don't have any already. Or steal (BORROW) the kids' art markers and paints and make some patterns on plain paper. My favorite ads are for the Shen Yun show, gorgeous colors and amazing images--there's so much around us to play with. Also, depending on where you live and what plants are growing, you could take leaves and blossoms (some "weeds" are beautiful) and scan them into your computer to print out. I watched a video of another crafter doing this with leaves, and I thought it was brilliant, so I tried it. Thanks for the great tips, I'm gathering bits of things into color groups, can't wait to start playing. Thanks for sharing, take care!

Is there any way you could list the 12 colors that we will be doing over the year?? Not necessarily in any order?? I'm not very arty, but using ROY G BIV (turquoise for indigo) plus brown and pink maybe grey I'm stumped to come up with 12. I cant wait to see what first color is!! PS Another good source of a different texture for colored background is to stamp plain colored tissue paper. I use it often because I dont have very many napkins. It is best to use archival or pigment ink so glue doesn't smear when glued.

I just found your video so I am behind the 8 ball. You said the book is 4 x 4 but I cannot found how many pages and what do you recommend for the paper? So looking forward to starting.

No worries, Kathy! If you’d like your book to be the size mine is, cut 7 sheets of printer paper (you can using something a bit heavier, but not too thick) to 8x4 inches and then fold them in half, to make 4x4 pages. The pages will sturdy up as you glue stuff on them. I made my cover from a piece of canvas, but you can do yours in any way you’d like. 😊
