I’ve got 20 common English contractions to practise with you today! l will teach you how to pronounce it’s, don't, you’ve, weren’t, ain't, aren't, haven’t, wasn't, hadn't and many more - so that you sound more natural when you speak English!
Contractions are shortened forms of English words, such as:
☑️ don’t
☑️ it’s
☑️ aren’t
☑️ they’ve
☑️ ain’t
☑️ hasn’t
They are extremely common in spoken English, and common in informal written English too. 📝 Learning to hear and use English contractions is one of the best ways to improve your listening skills and sound more natural when you speak in English!
So that is what we are going to do today!
Don’t miss the BONUS SPEAKING PRACTICE!! 🤩
I’ve included some conversation practice at the end of this lesson - so you can speak with me! We’ll practise using these contractions fluently, in a useful, everyday conversation between friends. 👯
Practise speaking fluently with me!

Of course Emma, I've loved all the practice a lot! It's always essential and crucial for each beginner English student, maybe for not beginners only?! How do you consider? I'm entirely sure it would be really great to have this kind of talking practice next. If it doesn't bring you some difficulties, certainly! I'm trying to look out for you! It's tricky for me too actually (!!!) because I don't use it myself and it's not common to hear it where I'm from (Australia). But it can be used as BE + NOT in the present tense with ANY subject: We *ain't* interested. You *ain't* going to like it. I *ain't* feeling it today.

@@mmmEnglish_Emma You're always helpful to clarify most of the doubts we've had in pronouncing it right. "Ain't" is too much for most of us when it's often abused with multiple negatives, like "It ain't nobody doing nothing", it's quite hard to understand such sentence, we'd thought it means "nobody is doing anything" but it can also mean "nobody isn't doing nothing"... LOL... too confusing listening to Chaka Khan's...

Hello Emma, I don't know whether you made a video about it already, but a video where you analize can vs. can't would be very interesting. Of course it's not too hard to tell them apart when pronounced by an Australian, but for us non native speakers it gets pretty confusing when pronounced by speakers from the US or Canada. Thanks and keep up the excellent work.

Hello, Emma! Thank you for this video! I have some question 😊 Should we pronounce these words in informal talks only? Or it's also good for formals? And what English do you teach? British? American? Australian? 😌

Not only listening practice, you need to speak constantly, practicing the contractions all the time, I mean, sustain a conversation with someone else, making use of those contractions, as simple as that.

Hey Why don't you type in English or Spanish man, if you can. I don't know what those symbols stand for pal, I don't know what language that is, I don't know if you're offending me or even insulting me buddy, so please type in English 'cause I don't get it, I mean, I don't understand what it says in that text. Don't take advantage of that.
