Bornean Orang-utan "Teijiro"(male/18) & "Renbow"(female/16).
For breeding, they were living together.
円山動物園のボルネオオランウータン、弟路郎(オス/18歳)、レンボー(メス/16歳)。
繁殖のため、約５年ぶりの同居となりました。

I've watched this video quite a few times in the past and I swear it never gets old. I just love it! I always get a good chuckle at the end when the door is opened and she looks back at him (5 or more times, lol) to let him know she wants him to follow her thru the door. She was flirting with him and it took him a few minutes to catch on. The innocence of these two animals is just so awesome to watch! :)

Did you see how Hayato was scared when they separated them? He was only about 4 years old and still needed his mom but the zoo would rather have the mother pop out a baby so that they can get people to come and see them. All for monetary gains at the animals expense. Never traumatize an animal ever!

Glad they have 2 sons together and they don't switch who Renbow breeds with. They keep them together

Unfortunately, these 2 adults have been alone for a while now. They had 2 beautiful young sons, but the infant Haruto died on 10/29/16, unexpectedly in his sleep. They sent Haruto to another zoo when he was 8 years old, on 11/3/18. Such a shame. I'm not sure why they haven't had any babies since then.

This big guy's "problem " isn't the keeper per se. He hasn't a willing participant. Kind of average since these dominate males take rather than earn what they want. But we know that there are females that would want to participate in just that fashion. Poor guy doesn't fit the bill well so far. Looks as though he has much respect yet to be earned from her or dominance to display to ALL not just her, girls aren't dumb like that Mr.Redfur Einstein! before she relaxes to a point that will produce offspring this guy needs to be genuine or a rough thief. Good luck with that big guy, it looks like you aren't very "cool" in anybody's view as of yet.
