If I ever have questions on the Gen3 Hemi...Byron and the rest of the people at MMX are the people I go to. A wealth of knowledge and willing to help. We need more of that in the world.

I tell people that if they want to get in to doing this type of work, then they need to become very OCD about their work. I'm not a very OCD person. But when I'm working on vehicles, it kicks in to overdrive

Do y’all have a video of a 5.7 gen3 hemi, with the forged drop in power kit, choppy cam, mds delete, 3” true dual straight exhaust out the back? I’m about to have my 5.7 rebuilt after mds failure on the stock engine and am curious to the end results both from a dyno, and sound perspective…

Just wanted to say thanks for the video, informative and I'm ready to tackle this project myself.

As an update to this three year laters, I wound up buying a Hellcat Forged long block from you today. Do you ever plan on making a video going into how you put those engines together?

Curious: Do you "deburr" the ring ends after getting proper gap? I notice there is a burr left after the grind process. Slight but it's there. Also, the rings are pretty much not radiused as well. would it hurt to add like a .002-.003 file type radius to the top and bottom of the rings? Smoother run on the cylinder wall? Or do you want that sharp edge for cleaning oil off the cylinder walls?
@karpenterken13 жыл бұрын
This video failed to show how to actually file the ring gap. Always rotate the grinding wheel so it files from the outside of the ring towards the inside of the ring while keeping the ring flat and square to the grinding wheel and grinding tool. That will keep the metal burr to the inside of the ring and you carefully file just that burr off with a very small file. Do not file any other changes to the ring. You can damage the cylinder wall or piston ring groove if you don’t follow these instructions. If you have any questions, always contact the ring manufacturer.

have you ever used the 0 gap piston rings? if so what kind of gaps are you using for them?

Byron, thank you for this video. I own a 2012 Dodge Challenger, SRT 8 , 6.4 Liter 392 Hemi, Stock. No Supercharged or Nitrous. I currently have approximately 72000 miles and have run Royal Purple oil since I have owned it for six years. No current engine problems. The engine runs even stronger and cooler since running the Royal Purple. I don't really race or do any track stuff. I plan on keeping the car and eventually doing an engine rebuild to keep the original engine with the car. Again, thank you for the videos. You do a great job explaining things. Btw, I am Marine and having a lot of prior diesel mechanic experience working on Hummers and other tactical vehicles in the Corps. Question? I would like to learn more about your company and come out to your location and work on Hemi engines? Would you permit me to come there to work a few days or more? Thanks

I dunno if you want to spend time and money on all those parts and then skimp on a forged crank and balancing the rotating assembly...do it right so you don't have to worry about it crapping out on ya.

So would it be a good idea to build the bottom end of my 6.4 Hemi and let it break in before I add a supercharger? Also Ive heard that the 6.4 already has a forged crank. I’m only looking for around 200HP. I want to be able to daily drive with the AC blowing. I live in Orlando Fl, and keep it street friendly.

jasonneal built properly break in is not an issue. Save the shop time and do the supercharger at same time
