Procharger installed with some upgrades is typically around 10k or more. Doing pistons is probably around 20 hours labor plus costs of parts. If I was to do my build again I would do a D1X and a race blowoff valve. You can select them up front and save money that way. No need to do pistons running 8lbs or less.

For anyone that's confused, the government mandate on exhaust gases have forced auto manufacturers to move rings closer and closer to the end of the pistons. This is dangerous if you begin to blow larger ci engines because a detonation in the wrong area =$$. A lot of it. So, by doing the pistons, he can if he chooses to, 1 get low compression pistons because a engine benefits more from boost than compression, and 2- get ones with lower rings. The edges of the pistons won't be as brittle. If he wanted to and had to money, he could have stroked it and replaced the rods, BUT again, $$ is an issue. Now the 345 hemi doesn't need to have the pistons replaced although it it wouldn't hurt. One of the differences in the truck version of the 392 is the rings are "normal" and all of the internals are stronger and heavier. BUT, it's 410 hp 430 tq. It's made to run forever under load so it's not turned up as much either. I have never tried to crank up a truck 392 so I don't know how far it will go. If this guy does a cam and stroke, and lowers the the head compression, and slaps on a larger intake manifold with long tubes- it will beat a red eye. Mopars are and have always been great to modify. If you can find an old 6.1l set motor, and bolt that intake manifold right to a 5.7l 345ci, with a tune you'll pick up 40 and 40 right away which will improve with long tubes and exhaust.

I'm a Procharger fan, I own a F1 but I'm not a fan of the P1. There is just no where to go. If you had put a D1 on with a wagon wheel pulley then when you want more all you need is a pulley. We all know that YOU ARE GOING TO WANT MORE!!

Im assuming the owner wants to go slow? F1 if it was mine. That engine should easily make 1000hp. Steve Morris took a cammed forged stock head 392 with twins and made 1600crank with full accessory drive on e85. Over 1170 i think on 93 pump. Headers arent the huge gainers on these motors especially under 1000hp. I'm still using stock on my Hellcat pullied to 17lbs. Maybe a better intake.

The motor is dingle-ball honed before the new pistons are installed but to be honest most of the time the engines are so new the crosshatching still look great.

@@HighPSIPerformance I obviously mean a procharged version with no MDS, a blower cam, worked heads, long tubes and fully tuned. I have a 2014 SRT 392 Charger, but I don't like the Nag 5 speed. I have a 2016 Ripp Supercharged V6 300S that I love and intend to keep. I Will swap the 3.07 limited slip out of the Charger with the 2.65 in the 2018 300s as well as the bigger axles. I just want hellcat performance in the newer 300S even if I have to buy a longer stroke crank for the forged short block. I'm 70 years old and have owned high performance Mopars for 50 years. I like quiet mufflers and good driveability.

The 5.7 is capable of holding more boost then the 6.4 engine in-stock form. The piston ringlands are to high up on the piston on a 6.4 engine factory. Customer is taking his upgrades step by step and as he can afford.
