Nobody in the USA loves the game of Hockey more than Minnesota. Only place in USA that sells out a NHL arena for a high school hockey state championship game. Their love of hockey is only surpassed by Canada and some european nations. But when it comes to the USA hockey, MN is king.

I grew up playing some moderately competitive hockey down south in Wayzata and went to school up in Duluth for 18 months (until they invited me to seek my education elsewhere) and all I can say is this: I am not crying, you're crying. Duluth and Minnesota hockey culture in general is a special slice of Americana.

I grew up in a small town a little south of montreal, maybe 20 thousand people. We had 2 big arenas, probably 50 neighborhood outdoor rinks. Plus backyard rinks in every second house and of course all the ponds. As long as there wasn't a blizzard going on, every single ice surface was packed everyday.

It’s always fun to watch the state high school hockey tournaments and seeing the names Olson, Johnson, Jorgenson, Gunderson, Carlson…and cheering against Edina and private schools 😂

I live in Edmonton but hockey here is even bigger and more intense than Minnesota. But this is really close to how big hockey is in most of canada. In Edmonton, kids start skating from when they're 2 years old lol

They might be equal but I doubt it’s bigger or more intense - especially through high school and the 4 colleges that aim for the frozen four. Usually the guys and girls all make it

Wish I grew up in a hockey community! Here in California don’t have that! I do play adult league hockey! One day I will take a trip check some ice rinks and a high school game! And the state!

I learned to play hockey at lower Chester(now Congdon) Rip Wms was my coach. Butch Williams Tommys brother played center on our bantam team.

I met some Duluth East hounds in 1997. Nick Angel Reese Carlson and Eric precotia..I think that's his name he was a captain

Kids shouldn't play hockey in rinks so damn much! They need to be out on the pond, with wide open space, skating, making moves, stickhandling WITHOUT any damn coaches!!

The outdoor puck season here in Minnesota is surprisingly very short. We're lucky to get 6 weeks of decent outdoor ice.
