MN Model D90 Land Rover: Testing The New 3D Printed 20" Alloys

MN Model is a new Chinese player in the RC market. Their first model is a really nice, 1/12 scale Land Rover D90 Defender. It is available as an RTR and as a kit version.

I've ordered my MN90 today. Green, like yours! I need to watch all your D90 videos to see what upgrades you've done. I had TC cars when I was a kid, Tamiya Boomerang and Celica. And more recently the re released Hot Shot. But I want to get back into it again, so I need to start learning again! I mean about what batteries I can use for the longest charge and does the size of battery make the motor more powerful? (I'm guessing not, can't think why it should). What would be a good motor upgrade to give it more torque? Fix the lights so they're always on. What shocks to use. I see you put oil filled ones on, but doesn't that make the car less bouncy? So much to learn!

The motor power depends on the battery voltage. For mid size vehicles like the D90, the voltage is mostly 7.4V (2 x 3.7V cells in series). The runtime and the charging time depend on the battery capacity (mAh). In order to not over stress the battery, the discharge rate (C) should be high enough. Example capacity 1000mAh (= 1Ah) x 25C = max. discharge current of 25A. Hope this helps

@@TheDIYGuy999 Brilliant. Thank you. It's not arrived yet, should arrive on Monday. As for weight for the wheels I've seen people use car wheel balancing weights. But I'm going to wind solder wire around the wheels then put the tyres back on. I've got thick wire fir the extra weight. I'll see if that helps.

They are both about the same and many parts are compatible. The MN 90 wheels are a bit bigger, so it's better in extreme terrain. I may do a direct comparison later on

Hi, as you can see, it's really good for the price and it has good off road capabilities. I'm still using the stock drive train and motor. Just the shocks and the rims were replaced. Also have a look at my other videos. Links are in the video description.
