I would agree with you that maybe calling it timeless after 6 years might be a tad early, still it is a song that has accompanied me through most of my youth, so actually, for me, saying it is a timeless classic, is not all that wrong :)

If we look at the entire spectrum of recorded human music, those 6 years mean so little. I'd also argue that the "time" in timeless isn't linear, it refers to multiple times. Like when you say: in medieval times, in viking times, in modern times. If a song is place able in a few of these contexts then I'd probably agree with you.
