A song to help you memorize Juan Tamariz' Mnemonica stack. It's meant to be used in conjunction with the visual and muscular learning methods described in Tamariz' book, Symphony in Mnemonica Minor, a highly recommended volume on memorized deck magic.
Thanks to Mike Wehar, who sang the song, photographed the cards for the video, and put together the video. You can download fast and slow versions of it at his soundcloud,
Slow version: / mnemonica-stack-song-s...
Fast version: / mnemonica-stack-song-f...
Thanks also to Waterflame from Newgrounds for creating SuperWing Heroes, the tune Mike used for this song's melody. You can see more of his stuff on youtube at / waterflame89 or download the music from this video at www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste... .
If this helps you memorize the stack and you get the chance to, please post some Mnemonica-based magic as video replies.

Pros : with this you’ll be able to remember the stack years after. Cons : this song will be stuck in your head forever

It helped me. You're right that it's not as helpful as creating and recording one yourself, with a catchy tune from childhood for each set of four cards, and if you're so inclined, I encourage you to make one of those and play it on repeat as you do the whole rest of the memorization technique mentioned in the book Mnemonica. I uploaded this only because I found it invaluable and thought others might too.

It definitely helps to have a song to speed up your recall of the mnemonica stack, but I learnt it using the peg system first (see Derren Brown's book Tricks of the Mind) then "sang" it to myself in my head over and over again. Apart from nearly going mad, losing my girlfriend, descending into alcoholism and boring the entire universe - it works! ;-)

+Chris Stacey If you know a peg system, that works, though peg systems generally take at least a month to get comfortable with. Juan Tamariz has a method for memorizing the entire stack for life in just one afternoon in his book Mnemonica, and it works. Also, if you want more resources on memory and peg and loci systems, you'd do well to check out any of Harry Lorayne's books on the subject, eg The Memory Book. Though Tricks of the Mind provides a great introduction to it.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't read Harry Lorayne's book although it's on my purchase list. I was being slightly flippant - I am working my way through Mnemonica and think Tamariz's work is amazing. :-) Thank you for your video, I love magic, and card magic in particular. Used Si Stebbins' stack for a while before reading Richard Osterlind and using his mathematical stack. However, having the ability to go from new deck order to stay stack and back to new deck order is genius. :-)

I suggest learning it for real, no mnemoniics using the peg system, why? cause i know the peg system and i use it to demonstrate other memory feats and if you want to do that you need to replace mnemonica in your list...so unless you will never replace mnemonica in the peg system go for it, other than that i suggest learning it for real, my advice is just take 5 at one time and genuinely memorize them, i agree that juan's methods works but i just need silence and concentration to memorize.

@@nexthoudini Another update would be the opposite video. ie. 1 is the 4C, 2 is the 2H, etc. Or, even saying these opposite, I want to think "7D is 3" or "3 is 7D". If I'm seeing the card, I want it to be "7D is 3" and if I'm seeing the number in the deck, I want to hear "3 is 7D", etc. Also, there are some really great memory devices for this too. Thanks for making this. I think this video could be a bit more helpful if the corresponding number for each card was also shown on screen. That said it's still been very helpful in learning the order. Also I wouldn't sweat it on this being considered exposure or anything. All you're showing is the order of the stack, not how any of the tricks are done or any of the secrets or specifics to the stack. Actually some decks of cards come prearranged in mnemonica now :D

Is this the actually mnemonica stack from mnemonics by Juan tamariz? Or is this something you made up? Because if this is the actually stack you'll save me from buying mnemonic!! Thank you if it is
@nexthoudini
@nexthoudini 9 жыл бұрын
This is the actual Mnemonica stack, but if all you want is the stack you can find it tons of places. Mnemonica by Juan Tamariz tells you all the things built into the stack -- which cards you can spell to, how to deal any hand called for -- as well as hundreds of effects you can do with any memorized stack and the principles behind them, routines that get you into and out of the stack from new deck order, tricks you can do without maintaining the stack so long as you maintain parts of the stack, or half the cards are in order, etc. It's a treasure trove of material, all fiendishly clever, most adaptable to your performance style. If all you wanted from the book was the stack itself, sure, I've saved you money, but why even learn the stack without an idea what you can do with it?
