I never saw him live but have been a fan of his music for over 40 years. I go through fazes of liking different music and artists but I have never grown tired of John's singing and playing

Saw him 7 or 8 times. Every time different (weirdly so on the Grace and Danger tour ... the only one that left me indifferent). But yeah, the same. He is one of the few musical constants in my life.

Saw him live once. In a tiny venue, I was effectively sitting right next to him: there was no stage to speak of. He was, of course, "fashionably" late to come out, but, man, what a night.

a reply to 'edenic' genius breeds madness and spills out into the world in all manners. maybe the legend that is John Martyn felt that alcohol was the only way he could avoid the madness of his genius and still be able to give us the beauty of his music. peace.

As original poster, well aware there’s no E in the Scottish spelling of whisky. But as the tune was written by a US person (under title All the Money) guessing the TS video editors respectfully stuck to how he’d have spelled/spelt it. Merry Xmas. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpu5hnivlN2hb8k
