Rest in the Lord, Shane and mother Therese MacGowan. 🙏✝️ I thought that some parts of the funeral were very touching, others a little troubling; namely, those with his widow, Victoria Clarke. With all due respect, I don’t know why he wasn’t given a proper traditional requiem mass, but I doubt that secular widow of his will continue to have mass intentions for him in the coming weeks and months. He was a Catholic and deserves this more than anything else. Refusing to do that because you “aren’t all religious n’ stuff” or couldn’t be bothered is making his death about yourself. But death isn’t about us, it is about the reposed. If you are Catholic, I urge you to please pray for the repose of Mr. MacGowan’s soul. He was and still is a child of God, before anything else. Every Catholic and Orthodox Christian has this, it is one of the most sacred and most important things in a catholic’s life. If you are practicing Catholic, please do this for him as well as for all those that have no one to pray for them.
