Sharhonda Iceson Me too! It's sad the way these blogs can twist and turn a situation into something else. I had a completely different mindset as to what happened. It is a shame because not many may see this and her reputation may be tarnished further all because someone was after salacious headlines and a few blog hits. Monique is and always will be one of my favorites.

I am a 23 year old single black woman. I saw my mother and father together since the day I was born up until the time he passed. My mother, still faithful to him because she is careful with her heart and whom she chooses. I respect what Monique says about her marriage and marriage in general. My generation is scared to get hurt and afraid to trust someone else who may hurt them, but her words gave more life to accepting and waiting for a life partner not just someone to marry because I think I have to. Actually waiting (not looking) but waiting and being prepared to have a life partner who will work just as hard for our family as I will. The result of that is amazing because my brother, sister and I are the best of friends and cannot see it any other way. Families get started by your parents having a bond and loving each other and being a unit! I so appreciate you Monique and you saying that about you and your husband, what you both have is beautiful, business and personal!

Black Bird is an amazing movie, I have so much respect for Monique for the support she's put behind this project. She has so much heart and courage, unlike so many in our community who have the power and maybe even more power than she does in hollywood, who don't have the balls to support a movie that supports the black gay and lesbian community and educates the black heterosexual community about these issues. Monique is a true trailblazer of her time!

I DEFINITELY support MO' on her struggle b/c of/through non-conformance and happily salute her resilience...I've lost many a dollar by not shape-shiting and bootlicking myself, under the pretense that someone has to stand while others sit comfortably. Nevertheless, I'm not sure if "Blackbird" will be the film for me....but, hell, I couldn't stand watching "Roots" growing up either, but learned it's importance as I matured. Hymn

***** wrong. See. People who don't understand what TEAM means and what it is supposed to do don't get what she is saying. In fact, did you listen to the WHOLE interview??? The premise for her saying that message stems from a TEAM DECISION to not get PLAYED by white supremacy and Mr. Daniels; the both of them, Monique and Sidney, work together to go another route. THAT is to be applauded! It would be one thing if she was just saying SIDNEY or just HERSELF.....but they are a TEAM has husband and wife (not to mention they've been friends for 30years); and with this new age of thinking.....a husband and wife team thinking is unpopular. And WHO said she and her husband DON'T have disagreements? That is apart of LIFE in any relationship!! So I can understand how women like yourself, LOLA, are resistant to Mo'NIque's message. Good luck having a balanced functional relationship with YOUR husband.
@Ladyrocksavage
@Ladyrocksavage 9 жыл бұрын
Sekoynia Wright I understand the concept of team but guess what? A relationship is also about compromise. We can disagree on what works best for us both but trust when it comes to my career, that's all me. I have to fight for myself, my husband cannot come into my place of employment and layout what he thinks in hopes that they'd bend over backwards and cater to my every need. No. My company has its own quota to meet; you can hide behind race, you can hide behind love and you can hide behind marriage but at the end of the day when Mon'ique and her husband who, yes have known each other for 30 years but only married for 10 with kids and previous relationships in between, think that winning an Oscar is an excuse to be unreasonable and trite then they need to take a step back and really decide whether the common setback is them or the business. Which by the looks of it, the latter doesn't seem to be slowing down whilst the continues to struggle years after being declared best-actress. But I guess Team Hicks is doing just fine using Mon'ique's earned cash to fund her husband's, sorry "their" production company that does not seem to be cementing itself in an industry neither know how to play in.
@wrights32100
@wrights32100 9 жыл бұрын
***** But how do you know that their goal is to be cemented in the main stream industry of the white ran entertainment world. Honey. You were not listening well to this interview. First, the two of them are building on moving Mo'Nique's career forward.....he may not have all the answers and she may not either in-which I agree COMPROMISE comes into play. You can't be friends with someone for 30yrs and then become life-time partners and not know that there HAS to be compromise. Again, they BOTH made the decision to NOT succumb to white supremacy 'nigga trinkets'.....even AFTER winning an 'award' for a movie that highlights degenerate behavior, and that may have been the reason WHY they were resistant to doing any more promotions OUTSIDE of her contractual agreements in the U.S.....plus if they weren't talking DOLLARS for their extra efforts...WHY do the extra work?? (Mo'Nique DID say she already had several other career focuses that needed her attention). Second, the reason why I said you were not listening very well to this interview is because you would have heard that their goal as a TEAM is to not make white supremacy in the industry happy by allowing themselves to be pulled by strings and jumping and asking 'how high'. That is not 'hiding behind race' or love or marriage....that is TEAM DECISION, and if it were NOT....Mo'Nique would have a weak-ass dude for a husband, she would have 'played the game' and became what she is not nor has EVER been and that is a industry puppet, and she would possibly NOT be married (so WHAT if its 'only' ten years).....REMEMBER: she already had TWO FAILED MARRIAGES before this one with Sidney and it is probably because of the very reason you are suggesting their relationship as it relates to her business should be. A relationship that spans 40yrs and kids and extended families?!? Yeah, that cash is funding THEIR production.

I have total respect for Monique and Sidney and how they handle their business. I remember hearing when black people had pride, character and consider the generations coming up behind them! Some how so many black people in the entertainment and sports industries is, about themselves and their money, but with poor character and selling themselves short! Without care of what kind of statement I'm making overall for my people, regarding integrity! It appears that Monique and Sidney is trying to bring that and set an example for our people!

Mo! it depends on the man !🤔 However regarding your man ,I believe your both one person under gods love, and so any outside influence and decisions should be made as one . So any calls for work or contractual decisions goes through the both of you... so I get it,... but it does depend on the man . You are blessed with a great man which suggests greatness in you through your decision making & emotional wellbeing ...but Mo, you are the strong woman standing beside your strong man while he pulls you both to greatness. once he's done his bit ..you then take charge of the rest which in turn feeds your family with more greatness. The good thing is you both can do this alone. Your both gifted & talented in the right areas of the business they call SHOW. God bless you both .❤️

I don't know if she and her"manager"know or not, but they pretty much confirmed what folks are saying, he just admitted they asked for payment, the powers that be said no so she didn't go, regardless how respectful you say no, it's still a no. So she did in fact make demands???.. Her thing was if I have to leave my family pay me!!... I doesn't sound like "they"had a problem with her being with her family... Smh... That husband does not know what he's doing...
@Tripster60

She said no, then said I'll go if you offer some money for it, that's not a demand. That's an incentive to change your mind. Demanding is saying "I want one million dollars no less, if you want me to even consider going on that trip" that's a demand, what she did was a request

I respectfully disagree. Why shouldn't they inquire about compensation for promotional services? Does your job require you to do free marketing for their company on your days off? No, because it's against the law. Actors are paid to act in the movies and they are not partners with the studios. Look at the Sony-leaks scandal. They were pissed at Kevin Hart for the exact same thing. He wanted to be compensated for his service if they expected him to use his social media platform/following to promote a movie that he was in. Would the studios ask network tv to run their trailers for free? It's no different.

She fulfilled her contractual obligations with the project in the USA, sooooo, leaving US and promoting overseas was not something she had to do!, now if you called her three times begging her to do something she does not have to do, then pay her otherwise leave her alone! Her husband is her biggest downfall and she’s so brainwashed that she doesn’t see how he’s hurting her career and her life. This happens a lot with managers in show business. A terrrrible manager. He's like the parent who thinks that because his kid won some medals his kid deserve to be on the field all the time and doesn't realize that interfering constantly is whats holding his kid back
