There are campgrounds at Dead Horse Point and it's a great spot to set up and explore the area. I camped there for five nights a couple of years ago and found it very convenient to Canyonlands and other areas. The views are fantastic and are beyond description.

My husband and I are traveling to Moab in a couple of weeks. Thanks for sharing this beautiful destination! We will definitely put it on the itinerary. Your video was excellent -- great videography, good information.

Holy TOMATO! What an overlook into Canyonlands NP. You had that park to yourself! I visited several Utah state parks two years ago and agree they can be as beautiful as the National Pars and not as crowded. The hiking trails are amazing at most of these state parks. GREAT VIDEO.

Hey, Mr. Geology! Glad you stopped by. Did you visit Dead Horse Point when you were through the Moab area a few years ago?

@@travelingwithallen8637 I did NOT visit Dead Horse Point, but you can BET I will on my next road trip out there. Maybe I can meet you there or we visit a few of the Utah parks I went to. I loved Cedar Breaks National Monument if you've not been there. Holy Cow was it great and hardly no one there.

Thank you, Allen, for beautifully representing my native Wyoming. Dead Horse is also an International Dark Sky Park. Hope everyone remembers to keep all lights to an absolute minimum.

Thanks Allen - my wife and I will schedule a visit soon. We too, overlooked stopping after visiting Canyonlands. We will make it a point to visit anytime other than the Moab Jeep Jamboree. The entire town is flooded with people and it's near impossible to find a table in a restaurant. Thanks for putting this video together. I really enjoyed it. Steve from Brisbane, California

It can get a bit crowded in Moab at some times of the year! That's another reason I tend to go "off season."

Allen, you are absolutely right - it is so easy to overlook this breathtaking place! We have been to Moab and Arches and Canyolands, but never visited Dead Horse Point. I definitely have this on my list for our next visit now! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful sights! Thomas from Germany

Breathtaking and beautiful to be sure... provided that you are a 21st century person with a car, food, water etc. I can imagine that the first people to come across this, and the entire area, must have added "overwhelmed" and "terrified" to the descriptives.

Yeah, I can't imagine what it would have been like in a wagon. Life-threatening would be one of the adjectives.

thanks again, Allen. I am planning another trip to Moab and would have overlooked going to Dead Horse Canyon if not for your video. It definitely is worth the additional mileage.

Thanks for sharing that with us Allen. It must be truly breathtaking to actually stand there in person. We have some great places here in UK but nothing I have seen to match that.

Thanks Allen. You do a wonderful job with these videos! Moab is definitely on my bucket list when I get my Airstream out west. I closely followed the Gabby Petito murder last fall, especially their video encounter with the Moab police. One suggestion: you should include a SPOILER ALERT in this video for those of us who've never seen Thelma & Louise! (tongue in cheek of course, your mom knows my sense of humor)

I thought about a spoiler alert notice, but decided against it. I figured that if people haven't seen a movie that first came out 31 years ago, well... As for the movie, Ridley Scott sure did a great job with it. The movie is worth it just for the last 10 minutes of the film! (I remember my jaw hitting the floor when I first saw it.)

I watched Thelma and Louise, so many times, and I kept saying, I drove there, I was there. Lol I love that whole area. You, not with your airstream, be sure to drive pucker pass in long canyon and drive down the Schaefer trail to the potash ponds and the white rim road starts from there.

In Utah, the state parks are as good as the national parks and far less crowded. Don't underestimate them.

Hi, and thank you for your time. We are early risers, 0600 is normal for us…would it be best to visit here first and save Arches or Canyonlands for late afternoon? Do the crowds ever diminish at those spots.

I think you would want to go to DHPSP before you go to Canyonlands. (At least, that's what *I* would do.)

Hi ! Good evening, Is there any point in walking the loop between the visitor center and Dead Horse Point then returning via Mender, Shafer and Rim Overlook? Is the path easy and well-trodden?
