Moab on a TW200: Sovereign Trails

I'm one year in past my msf and have 600 or so miles on my own tw. i've never ridden it off road, except for some grass to get around a traffic jam. i thoroughly enjoyed this and wish i could have joined you fellows through moab. looks like fun! :)

For having no experience on trails, you did a decent job of choosing your lines and staying upright.

Looks like you did OK to me. The TDub is not known for it's great suspension or quick steering, but I like mine anyway. At least the seat height is low enough that you can dab a foot down if needed. I just ordered a set of DoubleTake enduro mirrors that fold (kinda pricey but worth it I'm told) as the stock mirrors look like they are just waiting to break off in a crash. On a trail like that I would probably unscrew them and leave them in the truck or stow em in your bag. If you still have the front Trailwing (Deathwing) tire you might switch it out for the Shinko 241 or 244 for better steering traction. Ya did good!

KarlB let me know you were asking about the rear ATV tire I'm using. It's a Maxxis Ceros 25x8x12. My wife has been using this same tire on her trailer wheel mod for a few years.

@@klnrgj01 how many miles have you put on it? I'm about to have a trailer wheel mod but not sure about a tire. I need something that'll hopefully last on pavement but handle mud and such okay. Probably doesn't exist but I'm looking at options.

@@TheAlpineProject My wife has several thousand miles on her tire. It's not DOT that I know of but we have ridden on pavement and it does well. Mud is mud but the Ceros has better traction in mud over the stock tire. We still try to avoid the mud as much as possible. I also have a SunF ATV tire on one of my other TW's with a trailer tire mod. This tire has good traction in dirt/rocks/mud as well. Its tread is more tractor-like so it "rumbles" at slower speed but no loss of traction. I've ridden with the SunF on pavement for a short distance but the Sunf has less tread than the Ceros so I'd worry about tread life with the Sunf if ridden on too much pavement. I'd pick the Ceros if riding pavement as it has more treat surface area. I've also ridden quite a bit in Moab sand with the Ceros and it does well as an ATV tire would.

@@klnrgj01 I'm torn between the idea of something that'll last awhile and something that'll get me through the mud. I'm not seeking the stuff out but you have to get through it on certain trails here. The Tusk Terrabite is one option that's actually DOT approved and might last awhile but then there's the Duro Power Grip V2 which looks like it could handle mud pretty well, but I'd imagine it doesn't have a ton of life on the road. The Ceros may be a good middle ground between the two. Not sure which way I wanna go just yet but I'm thinking 25x8x12.

Definitely got to learn how to finesse obstacles and terrain, it looked to me kind of like you just barrel over everything at the same pace, no clutch work at all.
