Love the removable windshield. I would to take my Commander out there, but even if the dealer was done putting the new gear box in, it would just overheat anyway. Yamaha next time. Thanks for taking the time to make a cool video.

Interesting you should say that. I have two friends with commanders and they both hate the windshields on their units. Also, we had one Commander go into limp mode on poison spider because it overheated. Cooled down in about 20 minutes and got it working again.

parkcitymacs When it is running, it's a blast, but it overheats almost every ride. I have tried everything, nothing helps. As soon as I get it back I'm selling it. We ride pretty hard, hammer down all the time.

Keep in mind, my reference is from desert fast, and rock crawling, not close corse or woods trails like in Michigan or someplace. Overall, I Loved the YXZ, but it was limited and cost $$ to add extras like gear reduction. The driving experience was reat quality super fun, if you are an aggressive driver. However, I recently upgraded to a Honda Talon, which ironically cost me serval thousand less than I had originally paid for my 16' YXZ. As someone that raced professional motocross I am a firm believer in putting money in to suspension and handling over the motor and the Talon proves this to be the case. However, Talon absolutely kills the YXZ because of the transmission. The YXZ's poor choice of 5 gears is a joke if you want an all around machine. The Talon can rock crawl a level 9 (cliff hanger in moab) with ease, amazing rock crawler actually, and with a cheap reflash and 33" tires can pull 95 mph in the desert. Why yamaha won't respond to replacing the 5 speed with a 6 or 8 speed, shows they do not listen to the number one complaint of the machine. Also, the Talon is far easier to hook up accessories , work on, and changing all the oil; like seriously like 5 minutes with no skid plate removal needed. The YXZ is a great machine, but it needed some updating 2 years ago regarding the transmission and suspension. I think if the YXZ only costs say, $14,000 to $16,000 it would be still a great machine, but not worth a penny more until they fix the transmission.

So is this an actual low range that applies to all the gears or is it like the GYTR gear reduction? You mentioned in the description shifting in and out of low.

That thing sounds mean. What did you do to the exhaust? It looks stock..

The stock spark arrestor eats up about 5hp in power and cuts down the crisp response on low RPM. It's designed to be removed for cleaning in a couple quick steps. Technically, I won't admit I was running without it, but you can do the math. ;-)

Ya, I had requests from people to shorten it because for some reason the new droids have bugs with long KZbin videos and being able to select 1080p resolution. I'm a Mac person so I would not have a clue about that. I'm sure it could be shortened a lot more if I put some more thought into it. Actually, if the YXZ was not so dang fun to drive, I would spend a lot more time making better video.. lol

parkcitymacs Wasn't aware of that issue. Good to know. Following the mega successful on you tube they are doing a 8 hour shoot day and making a a 8 to 9 min video out of it. So that has been my goal,(Min for every hour) not always successful but I will fake it until I make it. KZbin analytics is so helpful in that area of when people are jumping ship. I'm finding more viewers like a donut more so than a meal. I use to shoot weddings back in the late 80's and early 90's and a hour video was the norm after editing. The bride and groom could sit though it. Not others so much. So those on our trips will hang in there to watch as they were apart of the adventure. No so much from the guy in Tampa Florida that has a few minutes on his lunch break. This KZbin is quite the learning experience.I'm in my 60's and have time to learn.
