This song is so layered and complex that being off time a little bit can throw things off. It happened a few times in this performance. But the sense of joy that this song carries was still there.

just realized how good leo p is

SC L he’s actually really not that good, I mean I respect him but like he only follows the modern trend of bari sax.

Canal Noia it's not only how good he is but the energy brings
@aaronagustin61144 жыл бұрын
For what he does, yea he’s good, but comparing him to Gary Smulyan (the same person that he studied with in Manhattan School of Music after the passing of Joe Temperley), he wouldn’t be anywhere close to him.

Do you not realize the man who taught Leo p is the first player on the left. BRUH

The third guy messed up his time pretty badly at the beginning but I actually really liked his first solo when they were trading 16s

When someone plays a low bb bari, you know they're serious

i liked the second guy the most, but the last guy's sound on bari sounded a little harsh, almost like he was chewing the notes
@camkcoffee6 жыл бұрын
DerfGaming the second guy was definitely the best but this song is song is so delicate, sometimes it just sounds like noise. In this case, to me, it sounded like a cacophony of sound. The improved solos were pretty good though.

That last guy is Gary Smulyan. He is a regular member of the Mingus Big Band and the Village Vanguard Orchestra. Chances are you will find him Monday nights at the Village Vanguard in New York playing in some band. I will bet he has played this tune a few thousand times with the Mingus Big Band.

Does anyone know what saxophone was to the left of the bari sax players? i've never seen that kind before, looks like a lower pitched tenor
@ryanelecciri81642 жыл бұрын
It's actually a Low Bb Bari Sax instead of a Low A Bari Sax
@J-Crash2 жыл бұрын
@@ryanelecciri8164 ah, never seen a Bb, only the low A. But now that I know that thing exists i was suddenly getting restoration videos for the low Bb's, very nice

Gary Smulyan is the reigning world champion of the baritone sax.
The bari with the shorter bell is a low bb baritone saxophone before the low a bari was common the low bb was very common. The manufacture of that bari gary smulyan is playing is a conn 12 m bari sax
