It was old mafia guys who said no drug dealing because of the heat dat it brought from the feds of course many mafia members broke this rule and were subsequently punished n some killed but in a twist other mafia family would control the ports and allow drugs smuggling to happen and they would heavily tax the traffickers to use there port connections as well as also taxing street dealers to sell drugs now through the years the rule was initially looked over once certain mob bosses who believed drug trafficking was lucrative decided there guys could sell drugs which ultimately brought down a huge top brass of the mob when the French connection was discovered

paul costellano didnt want them selling drugs. but reggerio got caught on tape. delacroch who was gotti boss didnt know or over looked it. when delacroch passed, paul didnt show up at the funeral cause he was already being watched. gotti was already worried about him (paul cotellano) finding out about them dealing. so, he used paul missing delcroch funeral to drum up support to remove paul. they had to move because paul most likely was go move on them. paul didnt care for gottis crew. they wre to wild for him and he was pld school. some of the names maybe spelled wrong, but thats the story. but drugs brought to much heat and was messy. but to the soldiers and some capos it was too profitable.

People in the neighborhood just call them that (made-up) like 9th Ward off MLK and 5th Ward near Mercedes Benz Stadium. But you don’t hear a lot about folks using 9th Ward as much any longer since they shut down the primary base of it - the Seirra Ridge Apartmwnts on Delmar Lane.
