Love it! I would like to suggest using wood rather than plastic for the swings. Their feet can easily slip on plastic.

Love the removable roosts.

Thanks for taking the time to do a walk around. I loved the time lapse too. I have a lot of predator's as I live by the river, so I need something that protects them 24/7 I'm going to see if I can trim the weight down as I need my girls to be able to move it too.

Love the paintjob. One suggestion though. In the back (inside), there are two 2x4's under the roosting perch sticking down to the floor. They look like it would make cleaning out the bottom more difficult. I would suggest doing the rear roost-supports like you did the front roost supports (on the walls). Also some clear pvc food (and or water) pipe at least a few small sections of clear (because of cost of the clear pvc) so that you don't have to constantly check food/water level by removing caps. Just my 2 cents. Hopes this helps someone.

What do you do for your waterer in winter? Do you have a way to keep the water from freezing, or do you have to break up ice?

I am about to build one of these. After using the coop for awhile now is there anything you'd do different? Are you still okay with not having a sloped roof? Thanks!
@FourHensandaGarden3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question. I did upgrade it and put a sloped roof on so the water would run off easier. It served us well for a year. We did sell it before our recent move to Arkansas. Since arriving I built a Justin Rhodes Chickasaw 2.0 because we don’t have the same restrictions here that we did in Virginia.

Could you mention info on tires? They look like the ones on my garden cart. Also approximate weight of entire coop/run Thanks💕
@FourHensandaGarden3 жыл бұрын
They are 20" Marathon Flat Free tires from Amazon. The weight is around 150 pounds total.

Think you could use PVC in some of the design to lighten the load? I'm 60 and not sure I could move that around myself! Ty

What is the estimate price it took for you to make this coop?
@FourHensandaGarden3 жыл бұрын
The estimate was around $500 but not sure what the current lumber prices would affect.

@@FourHensandaGarden Hi, y'all! I've viewed your homemade chicken tractor, & I think I like your build!.. Great work, guys! So, now my question is, are you willing to give me the dimensions of all the pieces, please? I'd like to put one together for myself, right! Or, better yet, guys, are you willing/ available to prepare/ pre-cut a chicken tractor kit like yours, for me, please? I'd like to raise a few chickens, too! If so, guys, what will you charge me for a pre-fab kit that I'd be able to assemble at my place?

Is this ok for 7 chikens?
@blujeans9462 Жыл бұрын
4x8 is ok for 8-10 chickens. Although their roosting rods may not be enough for much more than 4 - so you'll have to modify that. But nice build!
