@@CandanceBrewer How long did it take to deyhdrate the corn, if you don't mind me asking.

I ended up letting it run overnight and rotating the trays and turning it to the lowest heat setting before going to bed, and it was done in the morning. So probably about 16 hours or so, but they were packed pretty full, too.

We also got bags of boneless skinless chicken breasts from the Veterans pantry...yesterday we canned 12 qts of chicken. As to the corn, we have a nesco dehydrator we use for vegetables, produce, fruit etc...also eggs (we have ducks and chickens and during molt we minimal get eggs for a month..they are for our loyal customers. ONE of our buyers asked if we wanted a brand new excalibur dehydrator, she bought and never used...why yes. so now we have that for jerky and meats., works better than the nesco.. frozen vegetables are so easy to dehydrate...we toss into food saver bags to seal. That is the key, once they are dried, they have to be free of any air... food seal and store in a cool DARK place... As to fun in the summer...we live in southwest Florida, a mile from the most famous beach...BUT, in our 60s, we have around 30 ducks and chickens..that need tending...so best we do is take the hobie out for a few hours, catch a few fish and head home. entirely too hot...94 today with a feels like 106.

I’ve been dehydrating corn for years. Frozen, canned, fresh. It all works great and is nice for winter soups. Nice haul!

Awe, thanks. It really helps a lot. Especially with us losing our food stamps because of my brain forgetting to do the review paperwork on time 😭 I did complete the review yesterday after an embarrassing grocery checkout with my card being declined 😪 However it could be a week or longer before they approve us. And I already know the amount is going to be a lot less. Due to technicalities. I'll explain it all in an upcoming video once I'm not so emotional about the whole mess.

Hi Candy. Looks like you got a lot of good stuff at the food drive-through. That’s a great idea to dehydrate the corn and then add it to soups. Or you could also make a cream of corn soup with the corn and milk and heavy cream. Oh Yum! I’ve never dehydrated anything. I think I bought a food dehydrator many many years ago, but I didn’t do much with it. I don’t know whatever happened to it. Lol. It probably got lost in one of my many moves. Did you get the graduation card that I sent for Codee? I’m almost done here go to college to do what she wants to do with the kids? I’m confused about that. Anyway, hope you’re having a great day. I usually don’t do anything in the summertime except try to stay in the air conditioning. Ha ha.

When you think of donating, please give items that you would want to receive. Even poor folks appreciate good food. Canned green beans , boxes of off brand mac'n'cheese, and rice are not very nutritious.
