This is really nice. I wanted to do this exact same thing, I just didn't know what kind of case I should use. You just gave me a good starting point. I may carve a few holes in the back to add blue glowing fans or something just for looks. Seems like there is a lot of room in that case, the possibilities are endless!

I like this setup a lot because of the simplicity but also there is a lot of space for storage. I looked at other peoples build and it was much more complicated. They're all still cool though.

To anyone thinking of building one of these, I recommend gluing the connections on your monitor before bolting to your case, I also installed lid supports onto mine for angle adjustment.

thank you for your encouragement!

This seems kickass, all of it together will cost less than a GAEMS case, but the plastic will be stronger, the screen is bigger and higher definition, and you only need one outlet to use it.

Hi, thats pretty cool, I want to make same box also. Can you tell me the box lid inside dimensions please. specially how deep is it. I have old TV which is pretty thick want to make sure if it will fit inside.
@anugaasideas54699 жыл бұрын
+Earth Matter Hi, I hope it is not so late for the response. The measure is as follows Width : 19.5" Height : 13" Deep : 2" I would suggest to use thin TV as the old tv may have enough weight to damage the hinge. Also if you use heavy TV you need to add extra weight in the console compartment to make the case stand still. otherwise it fall back easily.

Nice job but I'm going to respectfully disagree that that case has the same quality of a pelican case. Pelican cases are molded of nearly 3/8 inch thick polypropylene with a lotta engineering into the stress points and corners. They are completely water and dust proof (up to a significant depth). Whereas the knock offs from harbor freight and other hardware stores that cost less are often made of cheap, thin and brittle ABS with no reinforcement anywhere. And I seriously doubt any of them are water proof (splash proof MAYBE). There's a reason pelican cases cost what they do and are used in various industries and the military as the gold standard for outdoor cases.

Great work! Great video, I'm referencing it to make one for myself. I'm worried about drilling the holes through the lid, any tips to getting the holes straight, and getting the monitor nice and centered?
@anugaasideas54695 жыл бұрын
indeed thats hard part, if I do now I will do putting pointy screws in the vesa holes and push the TV down to the lid to make some drill hole marks.
@ejames96965 жыл бұрын
Anugaas Ideas Great idea, it worked out perfect! I had one more question, What size hole did you drill for that plastic cap to fit? The hole where the extension cord exits from.
@anugaasideas54695 жыл бұрын
@@ejames9696 Hi, I think it was 1" hole, but make sure to get right size cup first that you power cord plug can come out freely!

Great job. I'm doing same build but my monitor is 19 3/4 and heavy as its a PC lcd. It's very heavy. I debating just building plywood box as I have materials on hand and won't have to spend too much $. Love the hidden cable design. How thick is tv? I have to over compensate for size on monitor. Can't find your case online. Where did you buy it? Even old suitcases are either too small or too big or not deep enough. Any advice?
@anugaasideas54698 жыл бұрын
Hi, Here is the TV compartment (lid) dimesion Width : 19.5" Height : 13" Deep : 2" I really suggest light TV or monitor , otherwise the lid tend to fall back away from you. Thats why I added some wieght (those wooden studs) to balance. the box I purchased from MCM here is the link www.mcmelectronics.com/product/MULTICOMP-22-24120-/22-24120 if you use flywood, it would be pretty heavy. Thank you,

wanted to ask. did you ever feel like the hinges my break over time? how sturdy was the hinges compared to the weight of the TV
@anugaasideas54699 жыл бұрын
+Juan Pasallo the hinge is very strong no worries on it. I am using it almost everyday since I built it. no issues at all.
@MTGChicago8 жыл бұрын
+Juan Pasallo i agree. i would add on custom scissor hingles on the side so it takes weight off the back flap
@anugaasideas54698 жыл бұрын
I put 4 studs on each side inside the compartment which added extra weight. Not really necessary add hinge. trust me. :)

So I love how clean and neat evening came out, loved your idea so much I have already order the case so I can make me one. I have the 15" gaems case but it is thin plastic and the monitor blurs if you don't sit a certain way while playing. So my question I have is, do you have enough space underneath to put the Xbox one or Xbox 360 power brick on the power cord?
@anugaasideas54696 жыл бұрын
there is plenty of space, even you can put both xbox 360 and xbox one power bricks together.

I like this build. It is simple, professional, semi low costing, spacious and has benefits such has being weatherproof/durable. I would say it is better than the Gaems portable console station that you can buy online from 200-300 bucks. The only issue with that is. . . if something breaks in there (especially the screen), it is VERY hard to get parts since it is not widely known or it is expensive to replace. If you don't mind, I would like to copy your design and do a couple modifications, and post the design on youtube. This has the potential to add a lot more features while using lighter weight materials like thinner base wood or metals, and slim models like a ps4 slim. I would also add some support structures that I could get from the dollar store like, L braces and add rubber padding's to put on both ends of the console, some sort of sliding support beams that prevents the top and lower case from being over opened, some how mount a plexy glass in front of TV screen, and eventually some miscellaneous things like adding a USB powered fan for either the user or to cool down the console.
