It looks likely, just based on the design of the suit, that it's not a UC series. So it's probably not psycoframe. That being said, I'm happy to have a new AU (hopefully) and seeing the new world and its technology. Though there is a chance that it is psycoframe and the reason the design is so different is because it is from Mercury, so they're using new tech and the now forbidden psycoframe. Though the character herself does have quite a different look than the way UC characters appear, so I'm doubtful it is UC.

@@ayar2 I guess it'd make more sense to use the word protagonist here since you can have several main characters. Though Chris does get the least amount of screen time of the three, I'd say she's more of a secondary character. There have been several other female characters in Gundam that got more screen time than her like Sayla. The point here though is that up until now we've never had a female protagonist, we've only ever had women who were part of the main cast like Sayla, Fa, Mineva, Roux, Karen and so on. It's been a pretty odd situation that while Gundam has never lacked female characters it also took this long before we got one who's the protagonist. It's a result of weird industry shenanigans where because Gundam got classed as Shounen for some reason it absolutely has to have male protagonists even though it's clearly nothing like other Shounen and has never been aimed exclusively at men but from the start appealed to both men and women. Tomino talks about this in some interviews and Loran Cehack doing so much crossdressing is actually a direct result of this, Tomino really wanted the main character of Turn A to be a girl but was denied so he just made the protagonist extremely androgynous and had him crossdress all the time. So I'm glad that the execs at Sunrise finally realized how dumb strictly adhering to these very arbitrary genres is. Even if it's true that Gundam is Shounen it's been shown time and time again that boys actually don't give a shit about the gender of the protagonist as long as they're cool.

I always thought the female protagonist was more along the lines of Lalah Sune, Tiffa Adill or Yurin L'ciel if they were the main heroine instead of the love interest. Especially when you consider that they were all Newtypes so the red-haired protagonist would also be a Newtype or at least the AU setting's equivalent, hence the "witch" moniker

I'm more excited by the fact that Bandai finally now has a new flagship anime that will serve as the first basis of the new gunpla technology that they've been experimenting since Iron-blooded Orphans, which was their previous obvious new gunpla technology flagship anime at the time. Sadly Gunpla is pretty dead. The MG and PG lines are 95% of the way dead with maybe 1 P Bandai exclusive PG and 4 MG (3 of which are typically P-Bandai or re-variant of an older kit), RG is just a way to sell MG kits at a smaller scale at the old MG price (especially since every RG is also an MG), and HG is now a massively overprice class for what you get.

@@rotritter Everytime bandai releases new models with better plastic and articulation, it's always from a flagship series. I.e, animes like Gundam Seed, Gundam 00, Gundam Age, Unicorn, Build Fighters and IBO. IBO is pretty much the last series we saw an upgrade because the build divers pretty much saw the same type of models as build fighters.

It's so long overdue. It would have made so much sense back in 00, even if it was Feldt that took Lock On's place, since she her parents were Gundam pilots. Hopefully this sets a trend going forward that we can have more female main characters, and just more diverse characters in general, in future series. I'd love to see something that centers around an old OYW vet, since the typical narrative of the UC is how the younger generation is hope for a better world. And maybe even some cameos or series where some of the you get characters, like Al in 0080 are fighting in future conflicts together or against each other. We definitely haven't gotten much in the way of Zeta-era side stories about the rest of the conflict, and the same for everything around CCA and after. 0099, before Hathaway but after Unicorn, would be a great time to see, and we would finally find out exactly happened to the Mineva Faction as the limit for Zeon's autonomy is about to be reached. If that wouldn't spark a major conflict, I don't know what would.

I think a light up version would be better suited for the MGEX line, instead of the standard MG line. Maybe if the first line of HG gunpla sell well enough, maybe we'll get a MG Arial Gundam with special reflective plastic inserts, something similar to what they used for the MG 00 kits (Dynames to Virtue versions) soon after. Who knows.

An MGEX or PG Lighting Model would be insane with this thing, that's for sure, though I'm not sure if it'll be strictly necessary to have it be an MGEX in order to achieve the sort of lighting that we're looking at with this animation. That being said, the MGEX Unicorn and PG Gundam Exia have definitely helped them to push more dynamic lighting in their kits, and I wouldn't be surprised if they did something similar to either of those for Gundam Aerial - if it actually makes it to either grade in a timely manner, anyway. Gundam Barbatos shows that despite popularity, putting the flagship unit as an MG may be a long way off.

While on other hand, *this one upcoming Gundam TV anime* might be linked to the *Anno Domini timeline/Mobile Suit Gundam 00* or even the *Cosmic Era timeline/Mobile Suit Gundam SEED* as this year will be the 15th and 20th Anniversary of both Gundam series right...🤔
