It's great to see you back on the bike Rod, great hand protection, but also very expensive, but if it helps against an injury, I think the money is secondary. Thanks for the introduction. Glad to see you back mate. Have a great week and take care. Ride on🤙

Thanks Christoph. It's a hard sell for something that is expensive, will annoy you and doesn't guarantee not breaking your wrist.

Great to see you back on the bike. I have been wearing the TLD for a couple of years now and still going strong. The under palm gets a bit dirty but no wear to tear. Also the piece on the your palm is quite thin and after a while you don’t even notice it. The möbius does look like another level though

Dang bro sorry to hear. Surgery needed, or can you get away with just a cast?

@@jackcamier well I guess you could consider yourself lucky. Cast off early November and probably back to near 100% for summer. Garbage bag over the arm in the shower for the next 6 weeks is gonna suck though!

Sorry to find all of you with broken wrists. And I’m here because I’ve one too. Unfortunately rather severe, with 12 weeks in a cast with pins😢. I’m glad to find your review, I think this is the brace for me as long as I don’t fall apart when the pins come out😮. Seems overkill until you realize otherwise. Shred 🤟
@RideyRodney2 жыл бұрын
I’m now 6 months post injury and the brace is still essential for riding. It’s a shocking injury with long recovery time. Good luck with it all.
@marknorton3951 Жыл бұрын
Update: 10mo post-injury. It is a particularly nasty peri-lunate fracture and dislocation with lots of snapped ligaments. Bad. I’m now riding multiple times a week, mostly as fast as my riding buddies (but slower than I was). I still feel improvement every week, but less obvious now. I work on it a lot all day long and am playing fingerstyle ukulele again. It’s not as good as it was, but a lot better than anyone expected. It still hurts and always will. I ride East Coast USA NJ rocky janky stuff. I also changed to an SQ Labs flx bar with 12deg sweep and cushy grips. Mobius X8 is critical for me, as is making a huge amount of time for self directed physio. If you are at the start of your journey - don’t give up. Sending good vibes to all!

Yup, just had surgery on my broken scaphoid and had surgery last Friday. Down time is def rough. Worst off I might not be healed by the time I go out to Australia in September👎. Care for your wrist 😉 definitely gonna try one of these
@RideyRodney7 ай бұрын
Mine was a nasty brake. It was about 3 months before i could get back on the bike, 4-5 months to be able to ride anything challenging, and about 6-8 months before I had my confidence back to hit big jumps. I'm still using the X8 and it's now coming to 2 years post surgery, I just enjoy having the extra support. Good luck with the rehab.

Any updates a year later? I rode Bmx competitively my whole life until I was shot twice in the chest in a road rage situation which left me with permanent nerve damage to my right arm/ hand. I’m buying a mtb just to be able to get back out on a bike but my main concern is the weakness from the neuropathy to my hand (essentially my arm feels like it’s asleep 24/7) and this seems like the best option for support without limiting what strength and mobility I do have, just curious how it’s held up after this time. Appreciate any feedback 🙏🏻
@RideyRodney Жыл бұрын
Woh that sounds rough. It’s held up really well and I still use it every ride. I’d see if you could put one on to try out, it provides support, I’d just be worried about your hand letting go and slipping off the bars, I’m not sure it will help out with that. Good luck.

@RideyRodney2 жыл бұрын
Good to hear. Are you using it to protect a busted wrist, or is it a preventative measure?

I just had a nasty wrist break and am on to the road to recovery. The X8 looks nice, but it lacks the plate on the underside of the brace (the inexpensive Dakine 2024 has it). Isn't it that plate that prevents wrist breakage as well? I'd like to see one with upper AND lower protection with a lower plate that doesn't impede gripping the bars. Any leads on something like that?
@RideyRodney Жыл бұрын
I don’t see how you can have a bottom plate with it being comfortable to grip the bars. If you can get away with it then great, but I can’t. It’s a trade off between comfort and protection, I’m still happy with the x8
@RideyRodney Жыл бұрын
Also, the X8 helps prevent injury because the hyper extension can do some damage. It would also help prevent a break, but not as much as as the plastic in the palm. As I’ve said, I just can’t do it, but maybe you can. Good luck with the recovery
@scoobydoozoom Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I've just contacted Triple 8 about their product, and they're going to send my idea of a dual protection brace specifically for mountain bikers to their development team. I don't take jumps, but do some pretty gnarly XC stuff, so the ones your buddy was using may do the trick for the time being.
@TravyW81 Жыл бұрын
What did you do for protection for your thumb?? I tore both UCLs on both thumbs. Two weeks post surgery but I'm trying to find something to prevent me doing it again. Any ideas?? Thanks man.
@RideyRodney Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear. Thumbs take forever to heel, mine still isn't right. Everything I've seen for the thumb (like a thumb stabiliser) looks totally restrictive and would make gripping the bars near impossible. So I can't help you there sadly. Goodluck with the rehab.
