The song was so sad to begin with and now with Mark gone it just rips your soul even more. Mark was such a private dark soul who expressed his life in song. He was not glamour or rock star, he was a poet who painted a picture of what he saw for us and expressed it via song and emotion. Heartbreaking he was taken from us.

I downloaded Moby's "Innocents" because I liked listening to "Hotel" in my car. I was in the middle of a break up with my first wife. One of the songs, "The lonely night", really resonated with me, and I really liked the vocals. I had never heard about Mark Lanegan before, but I googled him and found out that he had an extensive discography. Since then, I became hooked on his solo albums and some of his collaborations (never been a fan of Screaming Trees). I didn't follow him on any social media, but on one day in 2018 I saw an ad that he was performing in my hometown of St. Petersburg, Russia, and bought a ticket right away. The gig was awesome and intimate, since the club wasn't completely packed. I loved every minute of it. Lanegan's music has helped me through some dark times and listening to many songs reminds me of them. His vocals always reached down to the bone, and his lyrics are awesome.

Man, I know is stupid, but I miss Lanegan and Bowie like hell. Life has gone to shit since they've started their trip back to the stars.

I wish his life had not been filled with so many hardships. You could feel them in your bones when he sang.

I came here for Mark, who I love. But this is an incredible performance by everyone. Just listen to the violin after five minute mark. This is the best version I've heard. ♥♥♥
